Figure it this way. The Rams season is over. So, a 34 year old career JAG backup starts the season. Fine.
The question is: where do they go from here? They have NOTHING at QB going forward. They don't have a starter. They don't have a backup. They have nothing. The cupboard is officially bare. Obviously, they have to draft a QB next year. Equally obvious, whomever they bring in now should be someone who at least has an outside shot of helping to stock their bare QB cupboard -- competing for a starter's job and/or being a solid backup if they are lucky enough to find something better. Remember, they have NOTHING.
Of the available options, it seems to me that Sanchez, Mallett, and Glennon are the most promising options. The problem is that it's not clear any of those teams are comfortable enough with their third string QBs to trade one of them. Ponder is probably the most "available".
