Reports out of Mobile said the Patriots spent a lot of time with this guy, so I figured I would give him a closer look.

I agree with your feeling that his overall package presents more as an early-ish Day 3 pick, though
it would not surprise to hear his name called later in Day 2 because of his projectability as a LT.
He will definitely be one to watch at the combine, for both his measured weight and his strength reps;
he needs to show that he has enough sand in his pants & raw strength to anchor both vs the bull rush
and in the running game.

If the news is true about Scar coming back, that is a great thing for these young guys. I think the team believes they have talent there, but the coaching was subpar.

I don't know if the coaching was subpar, but I do know that any o line with that many injuries is going to struggle.

Sub-par coaching? Likely.

Too many injuries? Perhaps.

Insufficient talent? Absolutely.
