Saw this yesterday trending on Twitter. Pretty much everyone was making the same joke of posting Zolak's NFL stats and suggesting he should have listened to more rap.

This totally fits with Zolak's dumb guy aesthetic so I'm neither surprised nor upset.

Along the same lines, I wish they'd stop playing Zolak's adopted theme song -- "Your Love" by The Outfield -- at Pats games. Makes me cringe every time.

I was listening live when he said this and though I thought it was a bit awkward I didn’t make much out of it at all and trust me when I say I’m well on the left and SJW side of things. Yeah it does sound like a dog whistle, and maybe it is, but since I listen to Zo’s show a lot I’ve heard him say similar meathead stuff about players being distracted by stuff that isn’t rap music.

Anyway this is no where near the Felger Roy Holliday fiasco.

I don't think it's the genre of music as much as Cam allegedly being distracted by it and always dancing during practice. When really you think about it, the whole thing is silly. Cam probably shouldn't be compulsively dancing like he does and Zolak should limit his commentary to questioning Cam's focus vs. the music itself. Newton definitely is a different breed of cat -- not an "all-business" QB like this team is used to and BB apparently has him on a long leash.

I love jazz( along with a lot of other genres). I have some familiarity w. reefer cigarettes, never worn a zoot suit.
But "pornographic trumpet"? Listened to a lot of Miles' but dont recall that. Damn,whatve I been missing out on all these years?

Ignore the point, focus on the irrelevant, and make it inflammatory.

The difference between Zo and the Keyboard Hall Monitors is that Zo has been down at Gillette watching the Cam Dance Party daily while the twitter universe's self appointed moral authorities and racial justice warriors have been collectively dithering about other important topics like who checks all the correct Jeopardy host boxes.

I think he meant “Cam spending too much time dancing” but including rap, which has social/cultural beginnings in the climate of 2021 is stupid.

I still think Zo might have problems that he is increasingly trying to hide, but maybe he’s just a dumb jock ? In the end, it’s moronic to mention it at all.

As an aside : social media is a scourge and many people aren’t sharp enough to realize they are being played…

Jazz is benign compared to the big band era. Benny Goodman and that clarinet was definitely x-rated.

Perhaps Zolak would not have keyed on it had Cam not just missed 5 days due to a protocol mishap and admitted that he still does not fully understand the offense.
