David Andrews-UDFA. Ben Brown-UDFA. It's still way too early to say, however, if Brown proves himself to be our Center of not just the present, but also of the future, we should still draft a young Day 1 Starting Caliber Center in the 2025 Draft. Having a capable backup Center is a MUST and this team has largely ignored that fact since Andrews became the Starting Center. That he's been so durable and dependable was no excuse for the team to not have a solid backup for him for quite sometime. Even if they hopefully put together a high quality OL for Maye (including backups), a solid Center is a must for a QB and anchors the rest of the line. Having just one solid Center is risky.
Jake Andrews was the draft pick who was supposed to be the center backup, but he's on IR for the year.

Has to signify Strange is returning. Which would be huge. And Jesus if we can get some sort of injury free play on the oline it could help sure it up. Not sure how bad Lowe's ankle is and I'm assuming Sow's non start was a combo of continuity and conditioning.

Lowe-Sow-Brown-Strange-Onwenu would be the best version of an o-line we have fielded all year. Now I am also aware there is an outside chance they put Strange at RT. But either way those 5 guys could give us a real NFL offensive line. No one is going to mistake them for the 99s Cowboys or the Hogs but that will be a very serviceable line assuming Brown continues to play like he did yesterday and they remain healthy.

He's probably not going to justify being a first round pick. But if he becomes a good starting center I'll quit *****ing about the pick. Starting centers are hard to find. He's gotta stay healthy though, need your leader on the field.
Very reasonable response. Refreshing.

Ben Brown walked in off the Raiders PS and was above JAG level. Why would we want Anderson? Whichever Pats scout identified B Brown should get a $50k bonus and should be told to go find a backup guard. That is way better than retrying retreads.

Assuming Strange is not back shortly.
No kidding right? When they said Brown was starting after being on the team for all of like 3 days, I was ready for an absolute ****show. Instead the dude played an A+ game against an A+ defense right off some other team's practice squad. Can't believe it. Whoever found this guy needs to be given a huge bonus to sit in a room for a week and do nothing but comb every other team's PS for an extra tackle.

A lot of stuff makes me question some of the front office choices this year, but then they do stuff like this that makes me think they're secretly super geniuses. Also - credit to Scott Peters for prepping him that fast.

Peters gotta develop an Offensive Tackle to completely win me over.

Is C Wallace eligible to return??

Cole Strange was a First Rounder and we're Desperate Fam and we might have the real deal in Maye gotta make it comfortable for him. Having a QB who can change the game with one play is someone you build around.
Strange is a better player than he has been given credit for. He also seems like a hard worker with a good attitude. Him stepping in to help stabilize the line would be a nice story.

He has received ridiculous amounts of **** on this board, primarily because of where he was drafted and mostly by people who I highly doubt could intelligently analyze the position.

There is one guy Jennings in packers PS. He plays tackle as well as guard.

Packers seem to have one of the best O- lines and none of their starters are top draft picks or highly paid free agents. It's all home grown later round picks .

Get their scouts or poach their Oline coaches. They seem to be doing something right.

Eliot Wolf signed 2 OL this offseason. One quit after 1 game the other was cut after 1 game.
He drafted 2 OL one couldn’t get on the field until everyone was injured and the other can’t play because he can’t pass block.

Wolf stopped there with 40 million of cap space left.

Yesterday 4 of our 5 OL
were cut by their team at the end of camp.

We could do the sane thing with what he brought in on defense, who we are stuck putting on the field and how that is working out.

Can we please find someone else to shop for the groceries?

The best Center in college football is rated as a mid 3rd round pick, and he's only like 285lbs.
Maybe Bryce Foster with a third or early 4th pick?

Weird to outright release him. Wonder if he started to grumble and cause division or something?
Either way, our OL is on the way up with Brown emerging.

Although, I would NOT return Onwenu to RT. I'd rather have Strange come back at RT than that.
Sow & Jordan have done okay at LG, and Strange would likely be better in space (Jacobs is horrible in space).

If I remember correct Leverett and Maye had some snapping issues in camp. With Maye starting my guess is those started to occur again this week. He hasn't been a very good lineman and I think the only thing keeping him employed was that he could snap but if him and Maye weren't meshing what else is there to keep him for.

It would be sweet if we find 1-2 OL for the future through all of this PS scouring. Brown could have potential to replace Andrews.

Foster has been on my radar. His size and ability to possibly play OG as well is very desirable.

Yep, the position’s been ignored ever since Mongo left for pastures too green for us to match… and Jake the Latest Fake does NOT count as addressing the position either: that was a Clown pick by a Clown front orifice.

So the 7th Oline starting lineup in 7 games?
Awesome!

You can't have a first or second round pick as your backup at every position. A 4th round pick is proper investment for a backup center when you have an established Vet at the position. It sucks he got hurt.

It's funny that Cole Strange is considered a savior at a position he's never played as a pro, after the board ragged him as a disappointment for two years.
I'm assuming he meant Strange coming back to his regular position, not center, and that is predicated on Brown continuing to play well (obviously that is far from certain).
