Jackson was my guy last year. He had so much more burst and bend. It looks like he added 20 pounds this season, which hurt his testing, but he became more of a power, play-the-run guy and showed the ability to be an every-down base DE. I still think he has some excellent traits. Oh, and check out this comparison I put together earlier this season:

Joe Jackson and Clelin Ferrell aren't terribly far apart. Ferrell is undeniably more polished (and I actually like that the Raiders were willing to take him at 4!), but he also benefited from more surrounding talent and he had a redshirt year to develop. My bet is Jackson will have a similar career arc after a year in the pros to improve technique, and if a coach is willing to take on the project, then he may get a top tier DE at a discounted rate.

Ferrell appears to be a superior athlete, but I think a good part of that is the weight difference. If Jackson dropped 10 - 15 pounds, he'd still be stout enough to take on blocks against the run, but he'd probably regain some of his impressive cornering skills that first made me take notice of his play a couple years ago.

Jackson in 35 games: 129 tackles, 36 TFL, 24 sacks, 1 INT (for a TD), 5 PD, 5 FF.

Ferrell in 43 games: 166 tackles, 50 TFL, 27 sacks, 5 PD, 5 FF.

Jackson:

I really, really like Miller. Unfortunately, if we take him, I think it would mean they aren't sure if Rivers is ever going to take the next step. For me they have some similarities in role, unless Miller could become a LB like KVN. Now that would intrigue me!

I've already pencilled in Jamal Davis for that role, though.
