Rules committee has taken over

I like the suggestion of an impartial committee, at least to come up with suggestions. We all remember Polian's crying after a loss directly leading to rule changes.

But I like having a committee meeting annually to make sure the game is working well. I understand the arguments, but you only have to look at hockey and basketball in the 90's to see how quickly a sport can deteriorate without people who constantly monitor the game and try to make it better. It wasn't until people started tuning out that the commissioners and owners bothered to do something.

This. The rules committee should be made up of former players, former owners, former general managers, etc. The keyword here being FORMER.
You mean like FORMER Jets employee Roger Goodell?

Yeah, that would work out real well. (I'm just playin dawg)

The only fair way to do it is to have a rep from each team, but on that day Satan will be skating to work.

I was thinking about this. Any rule change has to be voted on by the owners so I am not sure why you think they aren't in check.

The owners are part of the process. If the Committee throws enough dookie against the wall some of it will stick with the owners. If we only let the rules committee change rules every five years than they have less opportunity to throw the dookie at the wall.
