RotoWorld Rumor: Patriots interested in Calvin Pace along with 49ers

We'll see what the market says about Pace. Tough call. He was a so-so defensive end, and turned into a very good OLB, really came into his own when he stood up. Great measureables, great stats (for that one year)... but (you could say,) not a lot of history at the position; ergo, teams that pay for gigantic big names (hello, Mr. Snyder...?) might not think too much of him. It also suggests some risk, but the sky's the limit on the upside.

Prior to this season, Pace was a bust. This has to weigh heavily in any analysis of the player going forward. The issue of "contract year performance" will likely loom very large in the minds of anyone thinking of offering him a big contract. It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

I think it could very well be that Dennis Green misused him. Remember when everyone thought Willie McGinest was done circa 2000/2001? McGinest production went down and he was consistently injured with back problems. Belichick and Crennel revived McGinest's career by moving him from DE to OLB even in the 4-3. Taking his hand out of the dirt made him a much better player.

Exactly. Seems to me like the coaching change is the X factor here.

Here's another article on Calvin Pace possibly being picked up by the Patriots. It seems like Fitzgerald might be the reason why the Cardinals won't resign Pace.

Calvin Pace going to the Patriots?

you know, after reading that article, you really have to feel bad for their fans. Their no different than us. we're just very lucky to have the front office that we do, and we should be thankful for that. now b.b. , go sign pace
