A QB "redshirt year" is a year spent learning and practicing with the team. An IR "redshirt year," with no practice allowed, is a vast career setback.

Well won't know if a team put a claim in for him until the after 4PM. For all well know Jets could have put a claim in for him at 3:50.

I'd be surprised if they didn't cut Jordan Devey (and move him to the P-Squad). Like Rob said, Josh Kline is another strong possibility. I think both could be moved to Practice Squad with very little risk of them being claimed on waivers.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. We will know pretty shortly. Would be sad to see Thompkins go, but at the same time, feel Tyms has potential upside also.

I hope not. An offensive lineup of Thompkins and Decker out wide with Kerley in the slot, Amaro at TE and Ivory in the backfield isn't too bad; with at least a top-16 QB, would be enough to put up some points.

Edit: See Thompkins claimed by Raiders instead. Jest are still awful.
