must be advance scouts from that "Orange Mange" message board.

I wonder if he realizes that only 1 out of the last 10 highest scoring offenses actually won the Super Bowl at the end? I'm doubting it myself.

In all reality though, DEN is very good and deserves to be taken seriously. He just came to the wrong place to try and do that

True (and funny) though PM, overall, gets plenty of respect here. I think the two exceptions are the vast majority of posters strongly disliking the media's slobbering love affair with anything PM does........ as well as a minority but sizable group of posters who are descriptively unhappy with PM's forehead.

A bit off topic: regarding your comment about the top scoring offense rarely winning the SB, I'm curious to see if 'defense wins championships' continues to be the apparent case with the NFL rules/procedures being altered/manipulated to favor offense on an ongoing basis. At some point it seems like this should tip the scales to result in the highest scoring offenses frequently winning the SB.

Does anyone have an idea of how this compares to other rookie receivers in the NFL??

While I can somewhat understand how this happens, a sense of scale would be nice... cannot find those statistics.

I only care about drops in the Super Bowl

I believe drops from rookies and veterans alike is a fact in the NFL. However what I need to see is improvement.

Our rookies need to decrease the number of drops next season and they need to run the correct routes. The sad thing is imagine how drops they would have had, if they ran the correct routes and had more balls thrown their way.

An off season in the S&C and mini camp programs will do these guys a world of good.

But I still would not be surprised to see BB bring in some veterans next season just in case not all these guys make the 2nd year leap.

You have to look at the individual players on SI.Com. That's how I had to do it anyways.

Cordorelle Patterson had 77 targets and 3 drops.
Keenan Allen had 104 targets and 2 drops.
De'Andre Hopkins had 91 targets and 2 drops.
Ace Sanders had 87 targets and 3 drops
Marlon Brown had 83 targets and 3 drops
Terrance Williams had 74 targets and 3 drops
Tavon Austin had 69 targets and 7 drops
Robert Woods had 85 targets and 1 drop.
Kenny Stills had 50 targets and 2 drops.

So, the Pats receivers were on the bottom when it comes to rookies and drops.

A few of those rookies play in a dome or on the west coast. Patriots have played in like 3 rainstorms and the freezing cold. I hate the excuse, but I am sure it is a factor.

Valuable research, DaBruinz. Gotta think the kids will improve in Year 2.

I'm a one game at a time guy, so all I'm concerned about is, will rookies get back in the groove, which I feel they both were pre-injury.

I'll also be curious how they use Dobson since there's no way he'll be 100% Maybe red zone primarily?

Hoprfully a good 2 weeks work and mental preparation so the rooks and Vereen are in stride as much as possible.

Great job DB on the OP and follow up stats by other rookies. It really put the rookie WR's story more into perspective. Some comments on the comments

1. The drop ratio of the rookie WR's is clearly unacceptable going forward. If it keeps up next year then this rookie WR class clearly drops into the bust zone and we'll have to start again. However I'm buoyed by the fact that several great WR's including Jerry Rice had the dropsies in their rookie year. Personally I'd be surprised if we didn't see a significant improvement in that area next season

2. There are a number of reasons for all the drops. Weather is one. The other is getting used to the ball being there so quickly coming out of the break. I think that's the toughest adjustment, along with reading defenses that change your roué on the fly. Also no Gronk for most of the year didn't help

3. Also I think all the rookies were hurt by the fact that for the most part they have all been hurt for most of the 2nd half of the year, a time when they should have shown improvement, because of all the previous reps they had. They missed a lot of those games.

4. Personally I'm very happy with all 3 rookies. This offense is difficult for vets not named Randy Moss to adjust to, so the fact that our rookies are not at the top of rookie WR success doesn't bother me. If they had been healthy the entire year, I'm sure they would have had those 7-900 yd numbers that would have wowed us.

As it is they BOTH exceeded Branch's rookie mark for yds, by a rookie WR in the BB era.

5. We'll get a good idea of what BB thinks the future hold by what he does in the off season. If he pretty much stands pat, and doesn't go after a top WR FA, or draft one in the first 3 rounds, it will show that the Pats are happy with what they have. If he goes after a guy like Sanders, then the haters win,

I can only hope that Brady holds some off-season workouts at his place in Cali again. It would be great if all the receivers went out and participated so that they could improve their mojo with Brady..

And apparently not a very good troll at that, judging by their confusing use of "we/us" on both sides--unless I just read it incorrectly.

diemer is no longer an issue here.

I left the keyboard, but took the cannoli.

Thanks for both sets of info. This one puts the Pats one in perspective, at least for me.
