Great job DB on the OP and follow up stats by other rookies. It really put the rookie WR's story more into perspective. Some comments on the comments
1. The drop ratio of the rookie WR's is clearly unacceptable going forward. If it keeps up next year then this rookie WR class clearly drops into the bust zone and we'll have to start again. However I'm buoyed by the fact that several great WR's including Jerry Rice had the dropsies in their rookie year. Personally I'd be surprised if we didn't see a significant improvement in that area next season
2. There are a number of reasons for all the drops. Weather is one. The other is getting used to the ball being there so quickly coming out of the break. I think that's the toughest adjustment, along with reading defenses that change your roué on the fly. Also no Gronk for most of the year didn't help
3. Also I think all the rookies were hurt by the fact that for the most part they have all been hurt for most of the 2nd half of the year, a time when they should have shown improvement, because of all the previous reps they had. They missed a lot of those games.
4. Personally I'm very happy with all 3 rookies. This offense is difficult for vets not named Randy Moss to adjust to, so the fact that our rookies are not at the top of rookie WR success doesn't bother me. If they had been healthy the entire year, I'm sure they would have had those 7-900 yd numbers that would have wowed us.
As it is they BOTH exceeded Branch's rookie mark for yds, by a rookie WR in the BB era.
5. We'll get a good idea of what BB thinks the future hold by what he does in the off season. If he pretty much stands pat, and doesn't go after a top WR FA, or draft one in the first 3 rounds, it will show that the Pats are happy with what they have. If he goes after a guy like Sanders, then the haters win,
