What's up with the evolution of today's facemasks? I don't understand why linemen are using the same ones as QBs. The damn things don't even fully protect the chin.

Good points... it's strange.. I've read that the NFL partners with some aero dynamics company supposed to make helmets and face mask more in line with the players..but then again it could be all the organizations to get the right ones fitted to the players.. but your right lineman have no business wearing the same ones as QBs.. odd

I hope Obiazor works out - we really need him IMO. We're quietly thin at ILB.
If Spillane misses as much time as last season, Elliss turns into a scrub when forced into MLB heady duties.
Muma & Britt are not starters. Obiazor has a good range of versatility and could be an important contributor if he puts it all together in camp.

Very curious how the WR corp turns out.
Diggs is still a FA. Everyone assumes AJ is a few weeks away from a trade.
Pop & Boutte & Chism must be on notice, because Pats have a ton of UDFA WR's trying out.
(Boutte only uncertain IF Brown actually gets signed here)

The only 100% locks currently on the roster for week 1 are: Doubs & Williams
* I do think Hollins & Boutte are 98.6% on the team by Sept.

-Crownover- can he develop quickly, given he is already 24 years old. or is he already at his ceiling?

-Morton-will he show he is more up to the task than Devito?

-Miller-can he return KO's and can he pass pro/catch out of the backfield?

If he's accurate, has enough of an arm and can make decisions quickly, he's going to fit in Josh's system really well. I don't think he's ever going to be anything but a backup, but if he's a decent, he's definitely worth the pick.

Xavier Holmes Pro-Day Stats:


Mediocre to above average 3-cone and Short shuttle for a 252lb LBer. Decent explosion in the broad jump. That 1.76 is the slowest 10-yd split out of the edge guys the Pats have on the roster, I believe.

I saw him @ JMU last year, I thought he looked pretty good and has a high motor. That's two from the Dukes, maybe one of them make the team or the PS.
