Ronnie Perkins to IR

Only if they feel they might lose the player to another team and not able to get them on PS. I agree , it might set the player back, but depends on how the pats view the player and the players confidence in being able to get a PS spot on any other team .

We can disagree. If the team wants the player and thinks he will be picked off waivers, they make the attempt to roster him. If they don't roster him, they accept the results.

That's how I think they operate. It's rare for a player to fall as far behind as Perkins now is, and ever come back. Robert Weathers was right. His career is hanging by a thread.

The team wants Perkins and McGrone practicing and getting ready to contribute when called. If their careers don't move forward now, they probably never will. If McGrone is claimed, they'll work on DeMarcus Mitchell or some other player.

Looks like the OLB rotation is set. Jennings will be the early down guy and Uche will come in on passing downs.

Why?
And how would you know that?
He's into divination...

Biggest disappointment of this preseason. After 2 years - he did not look ready for NFL. Looked like a boy among men.

They threw valuable 3rd rounder on him - in deep Draft and w healthy depth on the edge - so obviously they will hang on to hope next y / save face.

He did look among BPA at that moment going by the tape so it was hard to hate the pick - but the obvious pick should've been OL (not hindsight, prayed at the time) if not slight trade up for OT Spencer Brown then beast Meinerz.

I said it when he was drafted, he's not good enough of an athlete to play OLB, he's not big, strong or athletic enough to play DE... bad draft pick.

They can hold onto him for years trying to develop him, but he never will.

I remember you saying this before that’s pretty bleak.

Same thing was said about Jennings last year when he was IRed. Same thing. We will see. After Jennings, I would expect people to have more patience, but it is what it is.

If we get two solid years from 3rd rounders that's a win for us .

Sadly first rounders and second rounders have been a big disappointment till 2020.

Hopefully Barmore and Mac Jones are breaking that jinx and Thornton and strange continue to be longer term players for us .

I hope at least 30% of first and second rounders sign extension with us. I.e we hit 2 out of 6 players every 3 years .

Yes it was.

I, too, am hopeful that Jennings has turned things around, but it's a little early to be declaring victory on his status as a contributing player.

Not early at all. What do you mean? He will be All-Pro this year. Jennings will make us forget Seymour and Judon. OMG - what do you not understand? It is a victory and there will be a parade. Pats 2019 draft was the worse evah, and the 2020 draft was AMAZING. Is that hard to get into your thick skull?

What Family are you? Pats' Family? OK, Pats' Family. Where does this go? I get it. Family of sports reporters. You are Bedard?

Ha ha Bedard.

It's a tribute to an old world Italian friend who talked about Family often.

It is the Foxboro Flu which has it's origins in Dragani?-Karlovac, Croatia and was brought to the United States (specifically Monessen, Pennsylvania) in 1897.
So under this plan you have high hopes for a player in his second year, you don’t have a lot of depth at his position, you don’t need the roster spot right now, so out of the blue you decide to make up a false injury so that he can spend an entire year away from football, be further behind next year, and you do it before he plays in the final preseason game to get experience, so you can play guys your are going to cut instead.
Is that how you play checkers when everyone else is playing chess?

Players get injured. It’s part of the game.

I saw him as a cut anyway.
