A very strong case of the Foxboro Flu apparently.

Bill stashing players on IR?

Bill stashing players on IR?

Say he's hurt for five weeks. They can't cut him, but won't put him on the 53.

There's nothing else for Bill to do.

It's not Foxboro flu. Doesn't the agreement with the player's association force this?

But it is fun to type those two words - Foxboro Flu - and leave them to hang in the air. Kind of like the guy at the Hertz counter.

He would have got cut other ways so prolly accepted going into IR. Hopefully he becomes more mentally and physically strong and comes back next year as a rejuvenated player.

If Tavai gets the edge over mcgrone, I expect him to also move on IR prior to the 53 cutdown.

So the rule so far this preseason is that if you lay on the field and get medical attention then it’ll be short term, but if they don’t stop the game for you then it’s 8 weeks to a season.

Our 2020 and 2021 third round picks are: Asiasi, Keene, Jennings, and Perkins. They have combined for 7 games started (3 by Asiasi and 4 from Jennings out of necessity in 2020), 10 solo tackles, 5 catches for 55 yards, multiple healthy scratches and IR stints.

Sure there is. They cut him with an injury designation/settlement.

Clearly they've IR him now because they kinda like him. Now, what Perk can do is ask for his release but that would be dumb because he'd just be starting over somewhere else. Better off staying here making ~70% of his contract and being a part of the org and hope he can establish himself here in 2023. Maybe he can see the field in 2022. Who knows.

If he's on IR now he's done for the year. Bill probably figures he's cheap and if he gets released some other team will take a took at him so why not stash him for the year since he probably wasn't going to factor in the mix in 2022.

Why would you do that if he's not hurt?

It kills his entire season and sets the player way back in his career

If they are to lose him to another team, that's part of the game, but you bet that your players might develop by practicing and possibly contribute down the stretch. Similar to how they used Myles Bryant and Wilkerson, who were practice squad early in the year.

That is correct, but still there is no Foxboro Flu.

He's hurt. If you want to keep the player, here's how.

Only if they feel they might lose the player to another team and not able to get them on PS. I agree , it might set the player back, but depends on how the pats view the player and the players confidence in being able to get a PS spot on any other team .
