Harrison said the Patriots' defensive backs match up appreciably better than their counterparts, and it's hard to argue with him.

The Patriots "now feel that they have the depth in the secondary that they can match up with all these receivers and all these weapons," Harrison said. "These guys are not afraid. I've talked to a couple of the players. They're not afraid of Peyton Manning.

"They feel like this is their best chance ever to match to match up with these guys and have a big day in the secondary."

Harrison lauded the play of strong safety Brandon Meriweather, declaring his replacement All-Pro caliber through eight games. Free safety Brandon McGowan has been strong against tight ends, including Anthony Gonzalez, Kellen Winslow and Dustin Keller. McGowan might have the toughest assignment Sunday night in trying to contain Dallas Clark.

Rodney is big-time homer sometimes, but if anyone could properly assess this stuff from watching TV, I'll trust RH's word on the matter.

I agree with Rodney (remember, he knows where I live) that this secondary has the best shot we've had in years containing the WRs and Clark. That said, you actually have to play up to your abilities to beat the Colts, a talented team. Sunday night we will see greatness. Let's hope the preponderance is from the Patriots.

In many ways, this is the first true test of this secondary and it's on national television. They can either put the disagreeing to rest over their ability, or they make the questions louder. Personally, I feel that they have improved a lot since Week 1 and are capable of containing the Colts. I just hope that they're up to punishing the Colts receivers in much the same fashion that they did to all of our last opponents.

OK with that said mumble these names to yourselves....... Sanchez, Edwards, Flacco, Orton & Ryan......... Tell me what kinda of games these QB's had against the "new" revamped Patriots secondary. I see a rookie, a scrub, a 1 year player, a "jag" and an up and coming QB who ALL have had good to great games vs. The Patriots.

Rodney just cracks me up. He's awesome man. Whether it's a tweet feud with TO, telling Brady he's a girl, or telling Dungy he got his rear kicked, I always love to hear what he has to say.

The Pats secondary is clearly the best since 2003-2004. While Ty Law and Rodney Harrison vintage 2003 are probably the two best secondary defenders in the BB era, the current group is deeper than any secondary we have ever had and very talented across the board. The depth and physical skills will allow BB to throw a lot of different looks at teams as he becomes more adept at manipulating his new toys. It will be fun to watch.

So far this season I have only been disappointed with the secondary once, in the Denver game when they played much too soft on Orton. They have 2 enormous challenges coming up in the next 3 weeks with Manning and Brees. If they play up to their capability I think they will get national recognition as an elite unit. If they don't, the Pats could be in trouble.

I'm glad they are looking forward to the challenge. It's what any elite unit should do.

BB is in no position to tell Rodney, or any other member of the media, to "keep quiet." Harrison is an employee of a news organization, not the NE Patriots. A significant part of his job involves providing commentary and opinion on games his network will broadcast. That's exactly what he's done here - provide opinion.

Belichick should stay out of Rodney's job as a network commentator. Rodney's not on the Patriots anymore and having BB involved at all in what he does is the last thing we'd want.

In controlled environment of the dome most of our DB`s were the fastest during draft week .The speed is going to be eye opening.

this is the same condition where guyton tested the fastest of all LB and Mayo was 3rd or something like that that year.
