I never said or implied that, of course he listened to his scouting department. But he makes the ultimate descision

He didn't ignore the scouting reports. The Scouting Department was one of the poorest organizations in the NFL, with few tools. Kraft has made major changes and will likely do so again this year.

Even if Wolf made the final choice, he made those choices with much, much less information than counterparts in other organizations.
We will see in a couple of years just how awful the choices were.

BTW, as an aside, to make believe that everyone knew that Polk was a stiff is just plain silly. The reviews the next day said that the patriots drafted a solid WR a half a round early. And then he draft an OT a bit early. This was NOT an error in player evaluation. THis was an error in draft strategy. It was indeed negligence to do what so many, many fans want him to do: to choose their favorite WR and OT.

We obviously would have been much better with the BPA with all our picks, with trades up or down if value was there.

I’m not surprised in the least that except to the extent that anyone would think that The Nebbish would ever put himself in a position to be questioned or held accountable in any way. The Scatback showed what a leader does on Monday. The Team President showed he is not a leader and at 60 years of age he never will be. I am hard on him precisely because of this pattern of behavior which I have noticed for 30 years and my concern for what happens to the franchise when The Scatback reaches the end zone of life (which I hope is many years from now).

But, which player is BPA?

By whose estimation?

Your idea, my idea, the team’s idea, and every draft pundit’s idea are likely all different, and certainly all debatable.

Even waiting a full season later we can’t really tease out how much team coaching, locker room dynamics, and rookie head games have obscured BPA.

Drafting a player pundits say was a half round early may have been BPA on the team board. We’ll never know.

But it’s good fodder for endless inconclusive discussion.
