Robert Kraft's Press Conference

Who manned the phone lines on draft day last April? Wolf I think.

If Vrabel is hired I assume he would this year? And I assume he did for Tenn?
Vrabel famously clashed with his GMs in TN. I assume he’ll only come with his choice of GM this time.

Is Deron Mayo still in the building?? Change those locks at one Patriots place.

Shes the one that sent those nasty emails to Jeff Pash. She also was the manager of the 'In Context" web site.
So the only things we can directly point to her being responsible for are wicked awesome? What's the problem again?

I don't have an issue with her. Even Bob said she was not making football decisions.

...but BB throwing her name out there is very interesting because he did it FOR A REASON.

I don’t have a problem if Wolf stays, if he gets a boss. He can have a role, but he can’t be in charge. I see him as adept at gathering information but bad at making devisions and absolutely not the guy to be negotiating with and persuading free agents

I dunno, I think as long as he is good with the GM then he will be fine. I just think he wanted "more of a say" in Tennessee, and his owner responded to that by firing the GM and then replacing him with an even worse GM who didn't want Vrabel. Oh, and by making sure they traded AJ Brown.

Wolf, Highsmith and Groh - BB was mean, he didn't take our input boo hoo

Wolf, Highsmith and Groh - Mayo and his staff couldn't coach up our outstanding draft picks.

Wolf, Highsmight and Groh - We will do better with a different head coach.

Anyone see the issue here? Anyone?
One of the issues I see, is that since Highsmith wasn't here when BB was, is that you just like talking ****.

It's more probable than not that the HC has already been identified and basic terms of employment are agreed. If Vrabel didn't know Wolf...he absolutely does now and would be comfortable as him being the Personnel guy...otherwise Kraft probably wouldn't have mentioned Wolf staying on in the same / similar position.

Kraft said that they'll move quickly.
I don't want them to rush it like last year... but I hate this phase of waiting. I just want to feel confident in a new HC and system direction.

I think it will be one of these 2 outcomes.

1) Vrabel is good with Wolf - he is the HC, Wolf and Highsmith do their thing per status quo
2) Ben Johnson blows them away so much that his demand for his own personnel guy is granted - Ray Agnew (or whomever) is hired into a role above Wolf; Wolf and Highsmith stay on (for time being) but Wolf cedes "final say" to Ray Agnew

I have talked a lot of **** on Kraft but I am impressed by the way the Robert said this was on me.
But, that is great, I agree, yet it all depends on what the "is" is. He seems to still keep saying that what went wrong is that Mayo was too green between the ears and he shouldn't have been put in that position.

That's NOT the problem. Kraft did not knowingly put a guy in that position. Kraft put that guy in that psition because he doesn't know what he's doing.

So a real coming to grips with the situation would be to find someone who KNOWS how to run things and allow them to make these decisions.

I doubt it. This process has to be by done by the numbers.

3) highsmith becomes wolf’s boss

2. Wolf and his new grading system aimed at 2 key needs in the draft and free agency—WR and OT—and he struck out on both. The evidence suggests he just isn’t very good at finding talent.
Per other posts on this thread, Highsmith and his grading system did not start until July, so after the draft.

I think that's how it will go. Vrabel is the guy and will have the final say for personnel decisions but Johnson could knock it out of the park and get the HC job. If that were to happen then probably Agnew would accept the GM position and have a bigger personnel say then Johnson.

Also, just for the record, I don't know if Alonzo Highsmith is a better GM than Elliot Wolf, he's never done the job at the pro level. He might be terrible, we don't know.

I just wanted it to be clear, that he's not a Belichick guy, and he's not really part of the old regime. That's all. And also, it was pretty clear that he'll have a much louder voice this time around than he had previously.

Oh and Wolf has a new grading scale apparently and Krafty is excited about it. Nice, where was this system last year?
I am assuming that since the changes were not implemented until the end of February that all scouting work was done based on BBs scale.
