Seymour was among the top 3 DL in the league during his time with the Pats. He never had gaudy stats, but he was a true force on the LOS requiring special game planing. He also was had the flexibility to play anywhere on the LOS. Regardless of his issues with the team, no fan should minimize his tenure with the Pats. From 2001-2008 he was as an important part of the teams success as anyone on the roster not named Tom Brady.
However that being said, Seymour is a perfect example of the adage "better a year too early that a year too late. In Oakland he had a few good years, but NEVER played to the level that he was being paid, in fact far from it. He was making so much money with the Raiders, he would have had to have been the DPOY in order to be considered a value. Just being a solid to good DLman didn't come near being worth the money.
With the Pats at 4-0 and the best part of the offense is still to come, Borges had to resort to the last former Pats player who will talk to him and say something negative. Now he is on the talk show circuit playing this up like its the biggest story since 9/11. The fact is that since Seymour left, Borges hasn't had a "source" in the Pats organization. No one talks to him He knows less about what goes on with the team than most of us. I simply hate the fact that the media pukes in this town give him the opportunity to pursue his obvious agenda in the great name of "entertainment"
He is a lying plagiarist, who doesn't deserve to be heard. He is everything wrong about the "its all about me" brand of journalism that permeates today's media. That smarmy little bully deserves to be ***** slapped every time he opens vile mouth. He is a plague on what good reporters should be and it kills me that he's being constantly rewarded for his bad behavior, ethics, and practices
OK rant over back to Seymour. The dude is retired. There is no way he's ready to play at an NFL level at this time. And while he may have had personal problems with the Pats, he very close to Tommy Kelly and Kelley never would have signed here if Richard hat totally bad mouthed the organization.
