I expect the playbook to be much more expansive this time around. They can't have every pass travel less than 5 yards. That'll mess up the run game.

JB has a big time arm. As long as they don't send Slater on deep outs and fly patterns they might have a chance to connect on one.

Is there any way we can wire up Josh "with the shock of a thousand thunderbolts" to disincentivise him from calling those plays to Slater? The only time a QB actually hit him he swatted away the ball like it was a flock of angry bees.

Guys, we have no idea of the severity of the injury and therefore no idea if he can play.

The thing I do know is that someone leaked the information about Brady's history with this injury for a reason. You don't just call up a reporter and spill the beans about something like that for the fun of it. Safe to say whoever did it was trying to create a reference point for the public to form an opinion on whether he should play or not.

Could have come from Jimmy's people. It's his shoulder he is trying to protect before he gets his big payday. Could have come from the team. They just want to win and have the most at stake. Could even have come from Brady's people who want to make Jimmy look bad, however I feel this is unlikely.

Who knows which one it is but I think its obvious there's an agenda being advanced here and all of this speculation about whether he should or shouldn't play is just feeding into it.

I suspect that you are hugely overthinking this. There isn't that much effort that goes into local sports reporting. Someone leaked information...agenda being advanced...nah.

the BB we see at the pressers is not for show.......what gets let out is a virtual zero, and everything else is speculation ....... the sources these clowns get info from (for the most part) are the neighborhood dogs

Link says Brady has played through this before on more than one occasion. What's amazing is how Tom masks the initial pain of major injuries...you'd never know.

But Brady's too wily to put his arm out to break his fall, as did JG on Sunday (wish I could claim credit for that but it was pointed out by Rodney Harrison and Tony Dungy). Brady always somehow manages to land with his arm tucked at his side and not take the full blow on his arm alone. That has to be mind over matter, as it would certainly be my instinct to do that.

In other words, "that hadda hurt."

I don't care what a League that makes its rule up on the fly would consider it, but I'd consider it "dumb" if he can't throw the ball.

At this point I think we can assume a few things.

#1 Jimmy is hurting but if he were in a position where playing was outright not an option for the next 2 games the Pats would sign someone else.

#2 Given #1 we can assume this is a "minor" AC spain meaning it is mostly pain management and he likely can't injiure it more.

#3 Given if the logic is correct following #1 and #2 Jimmy could play this week or at least be an option to play.

Myself personally as long as the above is true I would like to see Jimmy play. Not just for the Pats but also to assess him long term. What I want is Jimmy in this game hurting and struggling and maybe his velocity being only 80% of what it usually is. I want to see how he does hurting vs a tough pass rush that will hit him and see him get hit and pull himself up and be ready for the next play. I want to see his WRs not get open easily and him forced to throw balls away and see if he gets frustrated and starts to force things. This part suck.. but i want to see him throw an interception precisely because he can not force it in like he usually does and see is he adjust for that without playing overly scared. Also I want this game close in the 4th and have Jimmy with all this against them lead a go ahead drive.

That is what top QBs do. They are put in bad spots when the game plan offensively isn't working and they are hurt and guys are not winning match ups and then in the 4th you look them in the eye and tell them win this one for us and they manage to do it.

This to me is one of the last boxes Jimmy needs to check off.

It would be even more surprising if someone from the team gave this story up to a reporter this week for no reason at all given how tight lipped they are about injuries. If they did give it up they did it for a reason and I don't think is to fool Houston. They could do a million other things to create a smokescreen without advertising TFB's chronic shoulder problem to the rest of the league.

Felger, last night on his show, said four people confirmed the story to him that Brady had this injury four times and he played though it without missing time.

I know a lot of people here don't like Felger but I have no reason to think he'd make that up.

There are several gates that need to be cleared for JG (or any injured player) to play:
1) medical - will playing cause additional damage, or risk such?
2) performance - will the damage or pain impair ability to perform? (a torn muscle won't be as strong, a sprained joint will be loose and could affect accuracy)
3) desire - can the player tolerate the pain and motivate high performance?

We don't know enough to tell from the outside, but I'm sure the team will consider 1 & 2 before they worry about #3, which where all this media noise is focused.

So I'm thinking it's pure BS.

I think this probably just blown out of context. What I think it may be is Jimmy is in a lot of pain and being cautious and maybe protecting himself long term. This could just be that he is not experienced enough in the NFL and does not yet know how much he can push himself.

Team probably thinks he can play through it and to reassure him they are using an example of Brady playing before with it. Just to tell him the risk to him is not that high. So the media is just probably twisting it into blackmail.

What I don't like about this at all is that it is being leaked which is very unusual for us. Either the team or Jimmy is doing it and either case is not good at all.

Or it's all just media BS.
