There would be some dead money for sure. If you play around with the salary cap calculator, cutting him before June 1 overall results in us having $7 million in cap space.

Apparently, the issue for some is cap space. For them, it makes no difference whether Agholor is cut or extended. There are many other ways to get cap space.

With regard to extensions, Agholor is one of several, but negotiations take time and extensions cannot be counted on.
