I like that we have some LB depth now with Ayers and Casillas. I don't think that a blockbuster starting LB was what we needed. Nickel will be the most used package anyway.

Yes, but didn't he return to practice last week? How much longer does a finger take to heal?

I'd assume this says more about Skinner than anyone else. More importantly, it gives NE more speed in the LB corps, as well as pass coverage depth.

I seriously doubt that his finger injury is severe.. otherwise he would have been send to IR the same way that Buchanan has been.

I think BB is very pleased with where he is and plans with him.. his snaps are rising compared to previous years, he has been part of nickle packages until his injury..

I don't think he will go anywhere.. unless some kind of bigger set back happened..

Bucs are getting a fifth-rounder in 2015 from Patriots for LB Jonathan Casillas and a sixth-rounder in 2015.

Sounds worse than it is, of course, as we're probably only moving down 10 spots or less.

This is good. Veteran on a one-year deal who has won a Super Bowl who provides depth as a pass covering linebacker. I was hoping for a big thumper to bolster the run defense, but this is fine. He and Ayers provide the veteran depth that was not there at the beginning of the season. They can help out in spot duty against the Bronc-hosers and then have the bye two-week period to do some catch up.

I'm glad that they got something done and didn't make the team older or add another contract that would be a drag on 2015. as some were projecting.

So I'm thinking, Pats trade for a conditional 6th/7th rounder. Ebner to IR.

Man, I hope not :/ That would be a big hit to the ST unit. Although maybe Bolden can pick up the slack. He made some plays on special teams this week. He is channeling larry izzo! I think I saw him take a dump on the side lines last game

Why trade for a gimpy linebacker? There are ENOUGH gimpy players on the team already. This makes no sense.

Patriots acquired OLB Jonathan Casillas from the Bucs in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

The Pats are also getting a sixth-rounder. Casillas technically started the first three games of the season, but managed just 109 snaps, and hadn't played a down since for one of the worst teams in the league.
