Report: Kraft has had discussions about potentially moving on from Belichick

Yep, I have no problem keeping Bill as HC in order to try to catch the hated Shula as long as either Eliot Wolf or another outsider chosen by ownership is named GM.
Could care LESS about Shulas record. He can honestly go get it elsewhere at this point. The future of this Team is far more important than his personal quest to beat Shula.

I don't get people who think it's ok to subject an entire fanbase to years og losing for one man's vanity goal. It's insane.

Can you point out who those people are?

Sesame Street ... one of these things is not like the other.

So fans are saying Belichick only cares about breaking Shula's record.
But the team has serious problems this year with only 1 win so far.
Spending also is not to the cap ... which fans blame on Belichick.

So if he was so obsessed with Shula's record why does the team suck this year with cap room???
The opinion on this is laughable ... the coaching and players drafted and FA's ... sure on him.
But the Shula's record obsessed crap at the expense of winning LMAO ... please ... do the math as it is said.

Agreed. I also believe rather than the team just totally loosing out they would also trade him. Of course with his consent. I believe he deserves that much.
I thought that trading of coaches was no longer allowed...or am I wrong? I keep hearing this as a possibility, so maybe it is allowed.

IIRC it was banned because of BB's move from the Jets to the Patriots

Pretty stupid mistake if Kraft decides to move on from BB after this season.

The really stupid mistake would be if Kraft decides to retain Bill as GM after this season.

Three different offenses in 3 season is asking a lot, probably too much. I'm still seeing some hangover effect from last season in the all 22.

Asking a lot of...whom? Corky? He'll be gone soon enough too, so don't worry about that one.

Mac sucks and is exposing BB imo. We have problems everywhere but mac IS the catalyst. BB will bench promising rookie for a fumble no matter how it occurred but Mac is on the longest of leashes. Cam literally threw the ball in the dirt and I would take that right now if I could.

BB has been complacent for years and it is hitting him all at once. Once our coaching staff was raided, he put little effort in creating new ties in the college ranks and opted for old buddies and family members. McDaniels is constantly leaving us and the replacement was...Patricia and then panic hiring of Obrien to save the day. Little things like trades to buddies hurt us as well. Commitment to winning is not trading Harmon away for no reason or trading tackles to Josh as if we had talent to spare.

Slater is hof material but the old cutthroat BB would not allow the current over the hill Slater to remain on the team and would have found several young special team aces to push him off the roster.

I wouldn't fire BB yet and would wait to see if the stubborn old man changes under true pressure. This is the worst season imaginable with playoffs seemingly off the table ALREADY, but wouldn't it be crazy if BB makes this a playoff team. I'd consider this BB greatest coaching job if he turns this year into a playoff berth. I understand tanking but I have never been on board with it. I watch sports for instant gratification. The future is not promised to anyone and BB is old, so I'm hoping his mind is more on the here and now than for a future he may not be part of.

p.s. Brady rang that dumb bell and ushered in some bad juju for the season. Someone needs to smash it lol

If Kraft parts ways with BB I always thought after 23 years and 6 titles BB would get the courtesy of resigning or retiring gracefully instead of the team firing him outright.

Now I'm not so sure they will give him that courtesy.
I might feel the same way if BB gave TB that same courtesy. But he didn't and I don't. Get him out of here before he sabotages the team any more than he has.

Who is available for trade for OL or WRs ?
Ask Bill that question. It's his job not ours. Good luck getting an answer because, in his mind, he doesn't owe the fans answers to any questions.

The fact is that Kraft let BB make the call on Brady.

Either BB packed his bags or Brady. If Kraft intervened and kept Brady like he wanted BB was gone. FACTS
That I agree with. Bill was content to offer Brady 1 year deals at half market value. Brady wanted 2 years at still way below value and Bill decided no. Brady decided he was done begging for a contract every year and left. Belichick was ok with that.

Kraft signed off on all this. He may not have liked it but he agreed with Bill either because he thought Brady was past it or because he thought Brady was near done and did not want to lose Bill over that. He essentially chose Bill.

They did not even talk contract till Brady announced he was leaving which was pure PR. Nobody just ignores their free agent starting QB, not even talk to him and let him talk to other teams unless they wanted him gone.

Anyone who can't see this is how things went down is simply delusional.

It may have been Bill's call but Kraft 100% blessed it. So he can't now just lay the blame at Bill's feet only.

All this after I said I won't rehash this. Now I will stop.

The biggest issue i've got with BB right now, is the absolute hubris over the last two years.

hireing patricia who flamed out as a headcoach be the OC, and Offensive line coach was such a massive nepotism decision. like at the pro level having a guy who never coached offense, suddenly in charge of the offensive side of the two most vital spots.
Then having judge who flamed out as a headcoach, come in and be QB coach, which is something he's never done in the pros.

The amount of **** talk that go out of New england offices about mac from some of the coaches(many believe to be judge) and to still have judge on the coaching staff, and if not for the eagles offering him a job, patricia would still be here as well.

Then when people ask Bill about why the fans should be excited to rest on his laurels and say some **** like "the last 20 years" when bill has in the best talked about how the past means nothing its all about your record right now.

and now this year its an absolute dumpster fire. Bill let a home grown reciever leave and replaced him with sloppy thirds in JUJU who has one knee and catch catch. He extended parker, who plays so incredibly small. Other teams in the league are constantly trying to get better, the dolphins are bringing in guys, the eagles just signed julio ****ing jones for ****s sake. These guys that are moving might not be game breakers anymore, but these are teams with good offenses that are trying to at least ATTEMPT to get better, and here is our ****ty offense right now not doing anything.

Bill is a dinosaur in todays modern nfl. If he wants to be the Dcordinator im fine with it, but we need a new GM and a new HC
I was watching an interview with GM and he said that one of the most important traits of the job is the humility to recognize mistakes and change them. Bill seems like the opposite.

It's pretty obvious that Bill brought in Patricia and Judge because they didn't cost a penny, and Judge is still here for the same reason. That leads me to believe the rumor I heard in the off-season that Kraft gives Bill a total budget, including the salary cap, and the rest goes to the coaching staff. Bill probably saw an opportunity to make a killing for himself and his kids.

It really feels like Bill is either tanking or he knows he's gone.

Bill isn’t going anywhere this season or next. Of course, that’s just my opinion but I really don’t see it happening. That worries me. If I was Bill and I finish this season the way it started, my ass would be looking to improve the team asap, future be damned.

I gotta win and it’s gotta happen NOW. If not, I’m gone.

That’s gotta be his plan if he gets no assurance from RK, right? In which case, be prepared to see a journeyman veteran qb brought in here to compete with Mac. The draft will be dedicated to the trenches on both sides of the ball and maybe TE & WR. Could see a flier in rds 2-4 on a qb if there is a guy that falls. With Bills coaching prowess, that gets us back to 8-10 win territory. Not bad, but the team may go back to getting older.
Put the spiked Kool aid down now holy...that would be my Worse nightmare. I don't want BB shopping for the groceries from now on.

He's made his bed with the media, so now he's gotta lie in it. They've waited 20 years to stick it too him. IMO fans should be defending him, but too many listen to sports radio and get wrapped up in the negativity surrounding Bill.

It's an ugly way to finish, much like Tom Landry and Coughlin before him. The man is a legend, and as poorly as it's ending, the next man surely will not lead the team to 6 more super bowls. But let's run the old bastard out of here and make sure everyone knows what a douche nozzle he is.

It's sad. Everyone has turned on him, forgetting all that was accomplished here.
Bill has been a complete ******* to the media and fans for 23 years. Maybe Leigh Montvale was right and he is duplicitous pond scum, whatever that means.

I didn't turn on him. I never liked him from the beginning. But just like with players that I may not like, AB comes to mind, I'm forced to hope they do well for the sake of the team.

If there has ever been a better example of how much more valuable players are than coaches, Bill is being exposed as exhibit A. With good to great players he's a winner. Without them he's had 7 losing seasons out of 10.

I can't wait for him to be gone.

I’m still cringing at that last sentence toward me in that post. Holy ****, that’s embarrassing. My toes curled when I read that.
I thought that he was referring to another poster who recently quit the game and this site. I tried to encourage him to stay.

When is BB's contract up anyway? I thought it was through the 2024 season but I can't find that information anywhere.
I find it fascinating that we can find out exactly what every player makes (actually it's talked about constantly in the media) but we can't find out a thing about the men coaching them. Why is that?
