Report: Brady tried to push Belichick out for Bill O'Brien

Belichick took a garbage team in Cleveland and was building a great organization when Modell ripped it out from under him. He went 11-5 with a QB who hadn’t played since high school( Cassel), and he had the Patriots back in the playoffs with a rookie QB after 1 season without Brady.

Go take a look at the coaching and personnel staff Belichick had put together in Cleveland and tell us it wasn’t going somewhere good. Hell just Ozzie Newsome went to Baltimore and became one of the best GM’s in football, That staff was loaded.
Forget Cleveland. Let's just look at Bill's record as the HC of the NEP when he didn't have Brady. 36-35, 0-1 in the playoffs.
It looks like Bob Kraft hitched his wagon to the wrong horse.

I love Brady, he’s the GOAT, but I am so f*cking sick of the same people in this forum trying to revisit the Brady years at every possible chance. He’s gone, deal with it, go f*cking root for Tampa Bay again, go talk about him in the forum Ian gave you, just STFU in this forum about Brady and Belichick. It’s old news, give it a break.
The topic of this thread is that Brady tried to push Belichick out. It's difficult to express an opinion on that without mentioning Brady.

I actually go to the Brady forum a lot, mainly because those who whine about Brady don't go there much. On the occasion that they do they look foolish.

He's the best QB the NYFL has ever seen... by quite a lot. Meanwhile, we can talk about any other subject here but not him. That makes no sense to me but what do I know. I've only been a fan of the Pats for 62 years.

What a pure **** up the fan base of our preferred team has become on this site.
Can you be more specific about the problem with this fan base?

Belichick drafted Brady and built multiple dynasties around him. If you think Brady did that by himself then you really haven’t learned anything in the 100 years you have been following football. Hopefully Ian will move all the Brady threads to where they belong, in the Brady/Bucs forum, where all the Bucs fans post.

If I am not mistaken this is from the Lenny Bruce Carnegie Hall gig in the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

It's from the gif engine Ian installed, that's all I know.

I think intelligent people understand we mean as a HC.
I think idiotic people think Bill is a bad head coach. I think that having a defensive game plan he made for a superbowl in the hall of fame shows he knows what he is doing. I think it is sad that a handful of posters on this forum are so insecure in their complete and total adoration of Brady that they are incapable of understanding the importance the head coach/GM has on building a team. I think this forum would be a much better place if a handful of posters simply went back to the Tompa thread, or even better, went to the Tampa Bay forum and posted there, rather than spend their time here *****ing about the fact that Tom is gone. We get you love Tom, we all did. We all still completely and totally agree that he is the greatest QB to ever play the game. But coming here *****ing about the Coach/GM that got the Patriots there over and over and over, gets ****ing tiring after the 5000 posts you make and the rest of us don't want to deal with it/you.

The truth is that there aren't Bucs fans there. It's made up mostly of Patriot castaways who were forced to go there to read about Tom Brady.
Luckily we can talk about Shaq Mason, Von Miller, Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson, JC Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Allen Robinson but not Brady on the main forum. And that's just page 1.

Of course Brady didn't do it alone. At first he had a lot of help from the defensive players that were drafted before Belichick arrived. The second run came when Brady won in spite of some poor drafts.

I pay to see players on the field, not coaches on the sidelines or owners in their box. You should try it.

It's not about Bill being a bad coach. Nobody said he was. It's that he's JUST a coach.

Do you think the report that this thread is based on is true, that Brady tried to push Belichick out?

Wow…. Talk about insecure….

I mean this thread was made by a person who is team Bill and who doesn't go to the Brady forum anymore since he won the Superbowl. Everyone whose active in the Brady forum has mainly avoided the Tom topic here unless somebody posts a thread about him in the main forum or in the Brady forum itself.

Can BoB draft receivers? Let's bring him back in?

Let's be real here. Belichick took over in 2000 and rebuilt that team. Brady wasn't immediately the greatest QB ever.

We saw Belichick join the 1996 team as Ass't Head Coach, and immediately they went from 5-11 to the Super Bowl., and I remember it like yesterday, but almost everyone was crediting Belichick's influence for that. It's not much of a sample to cite his coaching record here when, in the first place, he came in, went 5-11, then immediately turned things around. You're holding 2000's 5-11 record against him? Really? When he came in the other GMs said the Patriots had the worst talent in the entire league.

And then the Patriots went on a 20 year run with Brady, the exception being Matt Cassel's 11-5 year.

What happened in 2020 was a cash strapped team with Cam Newton at QB. It was an accomplishment that the Patriots even went to the playoffs the very next year with a rookie QB.

In other words, Belichick's record is really good here in the years that you're questioning.

You're talking to a guy who thinks letting Brady go was worse than the Red Sox trading Ruth. One guy was at the tail end of his career and the other wasn't....

Hey, McDonald's fries are good. Remember when I ordered them from you yesterday at the Drive through? Next time a little bit more salt, please...

You want to be real? Ok let’s be real.

If the subject is Belichick as an HC without Tom Brady, the result is a very mediocre 8 year span where he is 8 games below .500 and has all of 1 playoff win.

Everyone wants to make excuses about how you can’t count his first year in Cleveland, or his last year in Cleveland, or his first year in NE or 2020 or whatever excuse du jour is. Fact is you can take away any one single season, and he’s still below .500.

The bottom line is that in 8 years without Brady, Belichick is 8 games below .500 and has all of 1 playoff win. In 2 years without Belichick, Brady has 5 playoff wins, one of which was a Super Bowl.

I used to compare Belichick without Brady to Jeff Fisher, but that’s not really a good comparison. Objectively speaking, Fisher is quite a bit better.

LOL!! I see you're still butthurt from yesterday where I proved you wrong over and over... Andy, stupid people like you make this forum so much more interesting. It just wouldn't be as fun if we didn't have you serving as a combination mascot/jester to push around regularly.....
