yup. lot's of injuries in both 2003-4.

Big difference with 04? Consistent Corey Dillon. I think we can run with current personnel and he line is a lot better than it looks.

Corey Dillon ain't coming through that door, though.

01 ~ Begin the Season with a Chance to win Back to Back Championships, we did.
02 ~ A deep and talented Team with High Hopes and Expectorations, we had.
03 ~ Start off with a long string of Victories, we did.
04 ~ Super Bowl Favorites, we became.
05 ~ Yet then...beset by Injuries, we were.
06 ~ Lose consecutive Games, we did.
07 ~ **** themselves, many Fans did, mm-mhh!!
08 ~ Went over to the Lame Side, they did.
09 ~ Forget who they were rooting for, they did.

Fear is the Path to The Dark Side.
Fear leads to Anger.
Anger leads to Hate.
Hate leads to suffering.

10 ~ Sucks, suffering does.

Win, the Patriots will.

Ass, they will kick.

2004.

Forget it not.

I STILL feel we should win the AFC because of poor competition as well.... Down year. Both our losses have been fluky/weird too.

Did we lose back to back games in 2004? I thought we lost a late one to Miami but already had a loss at that point.

No, you're right: I play a lot of Cribbage and must've counted the Steeler Game as 2!! Thanks!!

It's been corrected. Thanks all for having my Quality Control Back!!

...

Offense is better overall, but it was nice having a reliable run game :\

Yeah, 30-year old, Clock Killin' Corey Dillon's 1,600+ yards on the ground were sure nice (Blount's on track for about half that)...and any comparison that leaves them out is really a little bit on the wishful thinking side, IMO. And, I don't want to be a buzz kill (especially when the Force is involved), but two losses in a row is also not insiginficant.

I still think 14--2 is in the cards, but, right now, today, with all the injuries, the only comparison I'd be 100% on board with is that they had their Bye early in 2004 (Week Three) and won the SB last year.

Just curious how does Cribbage affect it? Like a bad loss or blow out is 2?

Well that Pats are getting all those fluke plays out of the way now. Good time to do it.

They have games like the Eagles game on occasion. Baltimore playoff game, KC game last year, Dolphins game in 2004. Crazy things happen and i am not worried about it. This team was well on the way to beat denver before the Harper screw up and even after that it took very fortunate calls going Denver's way.

The Patriots had to do so much wrong to lose to the Eagles and still almost managed to come back to tie it up depleted as they were.

I still think the Patriots will win the SB this year. In fact i expect my 5,000th post here to be "The Patriots are SB50 champions!" right after it happens

Exactly!!

If you rack up 121 for a Win before your Foe reaches 91, that's called a Skunk, and counts as 2 Wins!!

That's well said.

I'm really not bent out of shape over the two losses. The Denver game was well in hand when Harper fumbled and a lot of calls went against them that I don't think should have. The Eagles game was downright strange. Brady forcing the ball into coverage at the Goal line and then making a rookie mistake by, according to what he said, leaving a ball in play that he was trying to throw away. And, again, Special Teams on the punt return and blocked punt. I guess if anything "worries" me out of those two games it's the ST breakdowns two weeks in a row.

Here's what I am concerned about: they need to build some momentum going into the Playoffs. I don't know that it has to start this week (I could see another nail biter down in Houston), but they have to get "on a roll" before the end of the season. Maybe thrashing the Jets and Dolphins on the road will be just what the Doctor ordered, but I'd like to see them have a statement game against Tennessee next week. It's tough, even for a Brady team, to rely on waiting until the playoffs to build momentum.
