I do think we gave up on Thomas too soon.

Agreed on giving up too soon. I think it was a very unproductive year for the tight ends.

Then why draft all these tight ends in the first half of the decade:

With the Saints playing the Vikings, David Thomas will be used alot the give the LT help on Allen, so I could see him catching alot of checkdowns from Brees and get alot of yards after the catch.
