If that was the prime reason, the Pats just shot themselves in the foot. The Dolts can now sign Simmons and get the protection audibles.Probably not. If anything, he will be active next week. Miami's passing offense isn't exactly going to set the world on fire. This was just a measure to keep him away from the Colts (for informational purposes) with next week's game looming.
I agree with you about keeping him from the Colts, though, and have no doubt they want to keep him away from the Colts, but there are other players on the practice squad the Colts could sign for information purposes.
First is that the Colts are in bad CB shape. They need CBS. As I said in a different thread, there is hanky-panky going on between BB, Pioli, and JMD and suddenly Ty Law is off the market.
If the Pats like Arrington, they do not want to see him go to help the Colts. The Pats signed him to a two-year deal so they must like the kid at least a little bit. Perhaps the two year deal is: he signs, gets hurt on STs, goes on IR, comes back next year.
