If true this is a great move by the Sox in acquiring Gonzalez who is just 28.
Youk goes back to 3rd base where he is happier anyways (not that he complains).
So if the deal goes through who do you want now Crawford or Werth. I'd rather go with Crawford because I'm pretty sure as i have said before that Ellsbury is gone eventually as Boris will overprice him.

The San Diego Padres were close to finalizing a deal Saturday morning that would send slugger Adrian Gonzalez to the Boston Red Sox, sources have told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
The Padres would not receive any established major league players in the trade, but it's likely the Red Sox would include their top pitching prospect, Casey Kelly, in the trade, the sources said.
Acquiring Gonzalez, while signing one of two free-agent outfielders, Carl Crawford or Jayson Werth, would give the Red Sox their most potent offensive lineup since the Manny Ramirez trade to the Dodgers in 2008 and make clear why they were willing to lose free agents Victor Martinez and potentially Adrian Beltre.
