LMFAO!!!

Is that a joke. That is purely the most idiotic comment ever.

When Mangini too over our team was total mess, we had an O-line that was so bad we went through 5 different QB's in a season and finished next to last in the league in rushing.

A QB who's career was in serious jeoprady, and no depth at all behind him.

A RB who Herm edwards had left crippled and barely able to walk, our depth?? Derrick Blaylock

A defence who had lost one of our best players and best P rusher in J Abraham, also lost Ty Law (1st string corner) and were enetering a 3-4 system despite having personnel totally suited to the 4-3.

If thats not a shambles, WHAT IS????

Aside from a ton of injuries in 2005 and almost none in 2006 there isnt much difference in the Jets 2 seasons.
You seem to be giving Mangini credit for Pennington not getting injured, dont understand that. What would Mangini have coached the team to if he had the 2005 QBs? I doubt any better than 5-11.

The other thing is a team is not in shambles because it fired a terrible HC. It is more a case of 2005 being a nightmare because Herm Edwards was the worst coach in the NFL that season, than 2006 being a phoenix rising from the ashes because Mangini was the best.

Herm Edwards would have had your team at 8-8 or 9-7 with the same amount of injuires and that schedule. Mangini wouldn't have won more than 5 playing with Herms card in 2005.

Mangini has the potential to be an excellent HC, but lets not pretend he took over the Rich Kotite Jets. He did a slight bit better than expected last year (when you factor the actual injuires and schedule into it) but last year will have almost nothing to do with his long term success or failure.

Man Im so glad we got the good D co-ordinator.

Mangini > Crennel

in fact...

Mangini > All

Haha, keep on talking. Makes it that much sweeter when the tears are welling up in your eyes. Fists clenched , holding back the water works, swearing and starting fights with the jeering pats fans. So mad because yet again your dreams where crushed. Saw a lot of if last year after the playoff loss.

It was so funny. Before the game all the co*cky attitudes. Typical jets fans. Cigars in there mouths talking trash. J - e -t -s jets jets jets!!! Is that how that silly chant goes? After the game tears all over the place. All us pats fan just pointing and laughing. I asked some clown if he wanted Vinny T back so they might have a chance to win. Hahaaha cant wait!

Interesting fact:

The Jets have made the playoffs ever year that Pennington starts at least 12 games, (2002, 2004, 2006) and they haven't made it in the years where he has started less than 12 games (2003, 2005). So I don't think it is unreasonable to say that the single biggest factor to the Jets making the playoffs was that Pennington stayed healthy, and as AndyJohnson said, you can't give Mangini credit for that. The Jets have been two completely different teams since 2002 when Pennington plays and then when he doesn't play, and the same was true under Herm Edwards. I'm interested into seeing how the team does if Pennington goes down. Will Mangini experience similar mediocrity that Edwards experienced, or will he be able to guide the team to success with whatever back up they may have.

Mangini did a nice job in his first year but to praise him to the extent that many Jets fans are seems a bit much. They only beat one team with a winning record and that was in the slop against the Patriots, and as stated above, Edwards experienced similar success when Pennington was healthy. Let the honeymoon period wear off and then see how the team does.

There have been like 6 or seven good arguments in this thread, repeated over and over again. Geez.

I hope neither of them gets fired. I hope Crennel finally gets a winnable team this year and like it or not, I hope Mangini wins it all... like 20 years from now.
