Reading the Tea Leaves on Mayo and Wolf (Personal Speculation)

Yeah, SOME PEOPLE actually had REAL responsibility before they were handed the reins to a Multi-Billion industry.
Mayo never had a job he earned except player, and Helper.

How does anyone know that Vrabel wants to coach the Patriots? People act like that’s a given, but Vrabel crapped all over Kraft on his way out of town to K.C. Has he said anything that gives people the idea he wants to work for Kraft?
It is a fair question about Vrabel's desire to coach the NEP. He took some shots when he left because he was angry that he was traded, even though the team tried to help him instead of cutting him. Part of the reason for letting him go in Tenn was due how chummy he was with Kraft during his Pats HOF induction so it doesn't seem like there are lingering hard feelings. If Vrabel doesn't want the job, I don't think it is because he hates the team or the owner.

Mitch Trubisky hanging a 50 burger on Mayos focused on nothing but beating the Bills squad ought to seal the deal.
Wonder if Mayo is sick of this **** by now and will purposefully coach/call even worse than usual to achieve an awful result and force his own firing while getting to keep all the cash.

If only…

Mayo should listen to this idea.

Is there a way for Mayo to be worse than he has shown already?

Unfortunately I don’t believe The Scatback will fire Mayo because it goes against his thinking about hiring him in the first place. Kraft cares a lot about how he is thought of and I think he took the ****ty player survey results personally. He played politics with this hire to show the players in the league what a great guy he is dumping sourpuss BB for their first AA coach. He simply assumes that anyone he hired would be great because The Scatback believes he is in fact the principal reason for their success. This is about Kraft hoping to win people over to get that gold jacket he’s lusting for.

Some part of me feels like he is so bad that he’s doing it on purpose. I mean he can’t naturally be THAT bad… right? Surely he would know how to run his own defense he played in himself as the “green dot” over a decade ago… it just boggles the mind…

As they say, this is a question that answers itself. I always thought it quite peculiar that Steve Belichick was the defensive play caller after Mayo allegedly “ran the meetings.” He wasn’t running anything, the results this year make that plain.

Well.... maybe for 1 more....

Thats fair, but he was a DC for a year. And Houston was 32nd in points allowed, that does not give warm fuzzies
They had no talent on D

Personal speculation… Van Pelt will get sacrificed so the Krafts can save face and give the appearance they’re making improvements.

It won’t fix anything…

And be replaced with whom? The Dorito Dink? They’d be lucky if even he applied

Knowing the assignments on a play someone else drew up and called is one thing. Knowing what to draw up for every weekly matchup, when to call it, how to innovate, adapt, prepare others, attention to every detail... It's just not comparable.

Surely but you’d think he would have better prepared himself over the years.

Deep down they know they are screwed if they stick with Mayo. They don't want to fire wolf. But can't just fire mayo and let Wolf stay as it will look bad.

So wolf could be collateral damage for optics purpose and new GM will fire Mayo.
Monday, Jan 6, Mayo will be fired. No time to waste. As an after thought Eliot Wolf will get canned too.
