Ravens making moves - Mckinnie

Again, I agree. It's obviously a disaster. But if he were a great LT, they wouldn't move him, no matter how dire the RT situation. Would you move Joe Thomas or Jake Long to the right side to get McKinnie on the field?

If Joe Thomas or Jake Long had played great at the position before, and I had just two weeks to get McKinnie ready?

Joe Thomas/Jake Long would be my starting RT, absolutely.

The switch back can always be made after McKinnie is in game shape and has time to get used to RT.

Alright then. That's totally fair. I personally would not go get McKinnie in that scenario, and instead take whatever upgrade I could get at RT. If we differ on something that fundamental, there's nowhere to go. I shake your hand, and that's that. Thanks for the discussion.

Good move provided he's in shape (under 400 ) but seriously Oher belongs at RT...

let the have our JAG depth.

it will not help that much

Bryant McKinnie, Baltimore Ravens agree to two-year deal - ESPN

First Levoir on Right side; now McKinnie on Left side.

Baltimore beefing up the OL. Is this their answer (well reaction is maybe better word) to the Pats DL improvements?

Do these signings move the Ravens up any on your 'perceived threat matrix'?

I think so. Certainly a lot more than the Fish signing larry johnson.

In reply to the "Because of the Pats" part of your post: Yes, but only as much as any other team they will or will likely (playoffs) play. The same way we beefed up our D. Is it because of the jets? Yes, but only as much as any other team we'll face this season. No more, no less.

I see it as a reaction to their terrible tackle situation, not to our DL, considering we won't play them outside of the post season for 3 more years unless they manage to win the division or we lose ours. I don't think either will happen this year.

I don't see how this is an indictment of Oher. He was the only quality OT on the roster, and a guaranteed starter. They still needed a starter opposite him plus a halfway decent swing tackle, so they tabbed Mckinnie and LeVoir. :confused2: That said, I suspect Oher really belongs at RT.

Not an indictment of Oher, per se; but old, slow Mt. McKinnie is no longer a starting-calibre LT.
I'm somewhat surprised that Ozzie & Co. feel that McK is a better option to protect Flacco's blindside
than a younger, healthier Oher.

Oh, I think it is an indictment of Oher's play. Like someone said, he wouldn't have been moved if he was playing well at LT. He had less than spectacular play last year and it looked like he didn't improve from his preseason games this year.

I do think it will strengthen the line by moving Oher over to RT. Our rushing game and pass pro suffered from last year's alignment. Oher's better suited at RT based on his play during his rookie year. Plus you have Yanda in his natural position at RG instead of RT last year. Bring McK in and at least perform at an average level which IMO would be better than Oher's performance last year and the line is better....much better.
