Rapoport/Howe: Pats will look to extend Brady next offseason

If Brady wants to win he should take league minimum and use that money to buy a star WR. But I mean I'm sure he needs more money..
There isnt anything wrong with the logic behind this post. More free cap space should = better team around him. You just forgot to include the obligatory acknowledgement that Brady has allowed himself to be underpaid for years. And it would never be fair to take advantage of someone like that, to tell them they "should" play for even less.

It's all Brady's choice, he's earned it. What he's done is already unprecedented. He's helped the Pats field a better team for years with his team friendly deals. But it's not like the idea of playing/working for "free" is unprecedented. Lots of politicians forgoe paychecks, for example.

I dunno... The NFLPA totally had Brady's back during deflategate. Don't think he'd just tell them to "pound sand".

He may put it more gently, but some form of "I'm old. We win. I don't want to spend the next X years of my aging life getting picked up off the carpet" would seem to make sense.

He's just not going to say "Hey, the minimum sounds great!", IMO. That'd be a bridge too far.

Well, that settles Jimmy being traded or not. Does this news hurt his draft stock a little? Now other teams know Jimmy is not a potential heir.

I don't think it really changes much.

Brady hasn't left that much money on the table. Ignoring both his and Goober's rookie contracts he only averages about $1 mill less per year than Goober did (when you divide total salary received by years played).

They will and they should ride with the GOAT until the sunset.

Let's just enjoy this ride, we can't take anything for granted. I just want the 5th, I won't be a greddy mf.

Guess Brisset is the backup going forward. As well, I wonder if this means BB stays on until T.B. retires...

If the pats extend Brady, you have to figure jimmy is trade bait.

I'm not sold on brissett, but we could get a future starting qb in the 2018 draft.

I really like JAcoby, look for him to start going to Cali to train with Tom House and his bunch to work on his mechanics.

Bumping due to some info from Howe.
