Rapaport: Bennett Has Cracked Bone in Ankle, Offseason Surgery Required

Did you watch Derby plan for Denver?

I did. Not impressed.
But I thought he had potential and showed some flashes.
I'm just worried we will have no one incase Marty Bennett goes down.

#3 guy was the TE/former OT Williams, who was the first to get injured.

Derby and Harbor were not good enough to replace him at #3.

You can'take have enough quality depth at all critical positions to handle 3 guys going down. Devlin provides more at FB than any #3 TE available, apparently.

I agree. Except nobody ever expects Gronk to play out the year.

I think this team decided that it valued a "free" draft pick more than a TE project who struggles with route running, doesn't hold onto the ball very fiercely, and couldn't block someone if his life depended on it. And, to be honest, I can't fault the team for that, because I agree.

Patriots had him as questionable with a knee injury. Anyway there can be consequence for not listing the ankle?
Maybe it was just discovered. It could have happened during practice. In addition to the knee injury?

This is quite a significant injury, I am surprised he has even played through it. Proves what a warrior he is and just the kind of player we love !

Why is this injury being reported now? Right before a game? You gotta be kidding me. BB WTF?????

I fall in love with players early in camp but there are usually fundamentally good reasons they don't last to the 53, or long on lt.
Derbs was this year's Studfield.

Oh man, if only we had three of the five best tight ends in the league on our roster instead of just two, this never would have happened.

Well if that's what the poster was saying that is asinine.

But I took it more that it's weird to see a team that loves the TE position so much only have 2 active bodies at the position, one of whom is injured.

Warrior.
Hope he recovers fully and that he can still contribute if he can get on the field.

hes a beast! "Martysaurus"

Explains his poor play..at least from a route running/speed perspective. He just looks slow, now I know why.

I did not have any idea of how well or poorly he was playing. You are definitely one of the guys who has more Intel (in general).
At first I thought it's better to have Derby than nothing. It sounds like he pretty much was "nothing" to them...so why not get a draft pick out of it.

Not BB. But definitely WTF Rapaport and whoever told him.

Not only right before a game, but right before a game with guys who say they want to hit your qb late to intimidate him. What are the odds they now want to step on Marty's foot and kick his ankle 'accidently' during or after a play to intimidate/test HIM?

Unless it is really his shoulder and they are trying to distract the porter's of the squeeler's team.

Yeah, I don't think he was considered a high value, because of how much BB wants blocking from his TEs as a general rule. Hernandez was an exception, but he was a rare player, while Derby is not.

Wow, so many damn drops this is the ultimate choke job. *Wrong thread lmao*

Marty's ankle looked fine dancing with the cheerleaders.

Too bad the Pats have such a bad relationship with the Ravens. We could have asked them how to put together the best TE group in the NFL.
