I would keep Talib if he were on a short incentive laden contract with minimal SB.

Vollmer will be priced out as he can play LT and Welker isn't worth the 9M a year he wants.

I think the pats need to change things up on offense. The super short passing game isn't working.

Not picking on you, Kenny, but a lot of posters seem resigned to the fact that Vollmer is gonna get a OLT contract. Don't think he is going to be seen as a left tackle by anyone. When was he ever a full-time LT? FIlled in for Matt Light on occasion, IIR. Could he play there? Probably. Would a team devote $8-10m on a long term deal to a guy with recurring mobility issues to protect their best asset? It's doubtful, IMO. He'll be priced as a top notch RT, but with injury concerns. Perhaps $4-6m over two years, or three with a fake year built in. JMO.

The Dolphins are well under the cap and undermanned in the secondary. That they'll be more than happy to let Smith walk should be telling. Most Dolphins fans I know (and I know quite a few) are also happy to let him go.

I thought the popular thought was that Miami would re-sign S.Smith will all of that cash they have?

Most of the comments that are in this article about the team "almost certainly using the franchise tag on him if they can't reach a long term agreement" are obviously from Dolphin fans. You can see a few comments about him dropping INTs etc, but for the most part the majority seems to think that they should keep him even though he hasn't lived up to potential just yet.

I'm not sure what the Dolphins are going to do with him. They could franchise him and it wouldn't surprise me given that Jeff Ireland is essentially in charge down there. However, on the radio, the word is that they are going to let him walk given their wealth of draft picks, available cash, and free agents. I don't like Smith, personally. And it's not because of what I've heard from my Dolphins fan friends. I think he takes a lot of plays off and is disappointing for his size. A lot of people like him right now because of what they saw on Hard Knocks. But I'd be disappointed if the team was to drop a lot of cash on him as opposed to a player like Talib or Grimes.

I'd be interested in Smith for a reasonable price still (which obviously won't happen), as my personal opinion is that he can still learn and possibly reach his ceiling, but that may also be due to my bias of wanting him out of Utah too.
