Wow, this is so sad on so many levels. First of all a life lost, a child left without a father, and a member of our massive family lost. This is so sadly ironic because I was just looking at my Marquise Hill rookie card this morning and hopefully thought he would have a break out camp then year. My thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Marquise Hill. This really sucks for everyone to sum it all up.

Just a tragically sad day. I turned on the 11 o'clock news tonight to see the local coverage. Channel 4 led with a story on mosquito spraying...

But channel 7 and channel 5 led with the story, and channel 5 had some incredible photos of Marquise and his fiance and their baby son that a professional photographer took recently and sent to them. What a beautiful and apparently blissful little family shattered.

And they also interviewed an elderly woman from Mattapan for whom Marquise helped build a ramp into her house as part of a United Way project. I vaguely recall that it was a segment on All Access or Totally Patriots.

Channel 7 Sports showed a pretty broken up Jarvis Green being interviewed, I think in NO, talking about rather than focusing on a misjudgement in not wearing a life vest, people should focus on his heroic efforts to save his friend and the tragedy that his little boy has lost his father. Marquise agent was also interviewed by phone, and said his agency's clientel is a very tight knit group, and most of his clients are on their way to NO tonight. Hopefully with all the friends he had who are from the area or played at LSU, including several Pat's teamates, his little one will have lots of godfathers looking out for him. It will never be the same as having his dad, but hopefully it will help.

Sad news indeed. No two ways about it. This was not some sort of reckless thug who died. It was a young man who was ALMOST talented and level-headed enough to be an NFL player.

My only "but" is that I hope this turns into one of those object-lesson celebrity deaths, and that everybody else who jetskis from here on out wears lifejackets.

A sad day for Patriot Nation. My sincerest condolences are extended to his family and loved ones. R.I.P, Marquise Hill.

So so sorry for the Hill family, may Marquise rest in peace.

Just returned from the wk-end and heard this sad news. My memory of Marquise will be him tearing through my Okla. U. O-line the year before he was drafted. Such a loss for all concerned.

I just wanted to tell you all how sorry I am about your loss. It meant so much to us when fans of other teams came to our board when we lost ours.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I can't say I speak for all Cowboys fans, but I can say that I do for many. It's tragic that someone loses their life so young, but at least it wasn't for nothing. Some people live years and years without committing a selfless act, let alone sacrifice their life for another.

My prayers for strength and understanding go out to all members of his family and friends as well as his Patriots family and all of their fans in what can be a time of pain and confusion.

Maybe one day his child will come to learn that his/her father died a hero and can gain some solace with that knowledge.

For those that I've seen use this tragedy as an opportunity to deride his professional talents, know that he has been called home to a far greater place where his new life's works will dwarf anything he or yourselves could accomplish on this sphere we call the earth.

Take care, Patriots fans.

riposa in pace

sad day

I'll just add my best to his family and friends. I really feel bad for his child.

A quick review of the papers this am confirms what many of us know, he was a good man who did a lot for the folks of NOLA and loved his alma mater.. a life too short, but his memory will live on amongst those he touched. He seemed to have made a difference in his home, that is where it counts most.

Hi Pats fans.

I'm from the Bronco's board and would just like to express my sincerest condolences for the loss of Hill.

I remember when we were going through the tragedies of Darrent and Damien's deaths that we had many Pats fans come to the boards and express their regrets.

My thoughts and prayers are with Hill's family friends, and the Patriot organisation at this time.

That's so sad

Hopefully his passing was quick and he didn't suffer.

If he'd been arrested,though-different story .
Disgraceful is right.
I do agree the radio coverage was pretty disgraceful....Burton and Johnson WERE on the story and basically talked about it continually till 2PM...THEY were great, but after that, the ball was dropped a bit. I listened a bit to Sterans/DeOssie, but not as much at all...almost like nothing to say..but THAT was saved for the morning idiots..Dennis and such..In the hour I listened NO mention at all....typical and teh reason I never listen to EEI in the early AM..

Re: Breaking News - Marquise Hill in Lake Pontchartrain

Let's hope that they find him and he's OK.

Yes, he has been a disappointing player since the Patriots drafted him in the 2nd round. However, this is about life - not football.

I posted this because there have been many posts over the past couple of years who have made comments about Hill not acheiving. It was a reminder to those people that this was not about football but LIFE. Tragically, later in the day it turned into a loss of young life.

A few took this out of context and tried to twist it into something ugly. I was very angry over that last night. Those few do not deserve any explaination- they would not get it anyway.

But, to the majority of those who did not take it out of context, I thought I should clear this up.

R.I.P. Marquise.

A life taken too soon..

thoughts and prayers to all who knew him..

RIP Marquise Hill you were a true Patriot I Selfishly always wanted to see you crack the starting rotation
though now I See theres much more importance in this world then football
the way you put your well being second and the way you put everyone first your whole life ultimately giving up yours for anothers sake makes you a better man then any of us could ever claim to be and you"ve accomplished more good then many of us could dream
I know your in heaven watching over your family friends and loved ones and your not just a patriot Marquise just as in the logo of your city you are a Saint as well!!!

There's a link at that page at the beginning of the article to view a photo album of Marquise. Here's my favorite; I was at that game.

R.I.P., Marquise. Tiger fans everywhere are in mourning today.

Wow this came as a total shock to me. With it being Memorial Day weekend I had so much going on I wasn't even aware that this had happened. In fact the 1st time I had learned of his death was at the Red Sox game last night when the PA announcer included him in the moment of silence. I turned to my friend & was like "what the hell?" I wasn't even aware of how it happened until someone else in the crowd later told me of the ski boat accident.

It is senseless not to wear a life jacket, but when I heard that he had died trying to save another person's life I felt better. I remember back when he was drafted thinking they just got a stud. I know he didn't get on the field much, but that could have been simply because we have such a great defensive front 4. Regardless he leaves this world a hero & that's all that should be said of the man.

RIP Marquise. My prayers go out to your family and friends.
