Questions for Barwin

If you listened to the Barwin podcast... the thing that stood out to me is he mentioned he talked with Bill Parcells. The Dolphins ALSO happen to draft after the Pats, pick #25 of the 1st round. So are they a THREAT to snatch up Barwin for their 3-4 system in the 1st after discarding Jason Taylor? I think they are. Food for thought.

Just got off the phone, I'll have the interview up within the hour. (transcript)

He loved the Ring Size question.

May be in a few years we can ask him which ring is his favorite.

Absolutely. I've been assuming there's a strong possibility that the guy who "reached" at #11 for the "marginal 1st-rounder" OLB conversion project from podunk Troy will leap at Barwin.

“My favorite ring? I've always said, you know, I always said the next one. The next one is the best,”

Wow, did BP also draft Demarcus Ware? Maybe the reason he feels comfortable with cutting loose JT, is that he feels he can draft the next JT/Ware type guy to terrorize Brady for the next 10 years in this upcoming draft? Hmmm?

BP was the Head Coach of the Cowboys from 2003-2006 and Ware was drafted in 2005. Was BP in charge of getting the 'groceries' in that year too?

Here is how BP's grocery shopping went for the Dolphins in 2008:

1st Jake Long - franchise LT
2nd Merling - 2 games started, 16 games played at 3-4 DE
2nd Chad Henne - Backup QB prospect
3rd Kendall Langford - 13 games started, 16 games played at 3-4 DE

What has he done? He built up his trenches first and got a backup QB prospect for the future. Now that he's cut JT, I think BP will look to stock his linebacker corps with talent to finish the upgrading of his 3-4 defensive unit. He already signed a safety in free agency and resigned Bell to shore up his defensive backfield.

Not to nitpick, but you know that Taylor was cut loose from the Redskins right?

Ok so he traded Taylor away and got a 2nd round pick to be precise. Then he signed Joey Porter to replace him. The upgrade worked. But who's opposite Joey Porter that can bring the heat?
