People keep on talking about the tapes in NFL, watching the tape, copying video gate tapes, etc

Is the technology really that behind in NFL that everyone still uses VHS? Like when BB turned in all the "tapes" to Goodell were they really tapes or did he just give him a flash drive with all the film?

An interesting question...especially since technology has advanced so much in this area in the last years. Since some of what was demanded went back 6-7 years, I think THAT might have been different than what they use now. I also think Goodell wanted notes and other related things as well.
Also, I really doubt that home VHS rapes would not be the format, but something more in the commercial use. How all of this is computerized and interfaced is beyond me.

I wonder if they actually even keep the original tapes or recording media. I read an article somewhere about the Patriots film facilities (or maybe it was in Patriot Reign) that the video is uploaded to a computer system they have and is cross-referenced by dozens of different names and categories. For example, by individual players involved in the play, by down, by distance, by situation, by type of play etc. Unless the Patriots kept the illegal video separate, I think they would have to just rip it from their system.

I know they do have things put into a system like that...but there are many game films I am sure....even the practices...training camp are filmed from 3 different angles..
