As you know, the guys on NFL, Tom Jackson, Michael Irvin, and Ron Jaworski picked their so-called top 5 rankings for next season, or their top 5 favorites to win it all nextyear. Well, if you had to do your top 5 for nextyear, as of now, but it could change, who would be your top 5, and don't forget the cap issues, and free agents not on the teams as of now. Meaning that the Colts do not have Edge or Freeny, because both as of now are unrestricted Free Agents.

My top 5 for next season, as of now
1. New England Patriots - three time champs, and in pretty good shape cap wise

2. Cincinnati Bengals - I look for Carson Palmer to come back and play lights out

3. Philadelphia Eagles - I feel the T.O. mess is behind them. And this team is real good.

4. San Diego Chargers - This team has played well, especially down the stretch beating Colts in Indy, plus they were 11-5, and barely missed the playoffs.

5. Carolina Panthers - Any team with Steve Smith on offense, and Julius Peppers on defense should make most list.

There's a rumor that the Jets are going to Franchise Abraham and trade him to San Diego for Rivers. Personally, I think it's all based on Schottenheimer the younger going to New York because 1) How can the Jets afford Pennington's and River's contracts, and 2) Why would San Diego trade Rivers after Brees suffers a major injury?

However, if this were to happen, San Diego might have the best defensive front seven in football. Regardless, they should be back next year.

I see no reasons why the Steelers wouldn't be a top-5 team next year.

I'll be honest. Its absurd to try an d pick a top 5 for next year when free agency hasn't even started. The draft and free agency will change the faces of many teams. Particularly since the CBA status is up in the air.

I agree with this. I sat here thinking about it for a little while before I realized it was just going to be a recitation of who was really strong at the end of this year. It's just too up in the air to say anything at this point.

With the uncertainty surrounding Brees' injury, thay may not be a great idea.

The reason I just can't see the Steelers repeating is that they have 11 free agents, five of them are starters, and the Steelers will be more than $4 million over the cap as well.
