Question about sacks

Not that it matters, but I wanted to know if someone had the reason(s) there were no sacks given to the players who stuffed (behind the line of scrimmage) the individual who snapped the ball. I seem to recall White once and maybe R. Brown on another occasion.

In the end, it's just a stat and I'll gladly take any effort that gets the opponent to stop moving forward, but I thoguht that was weird - especially on White, who is an actual QB (somewhat).

If it is the intention of the QB to run (in the opinion of the scorer), there is no sack even if the result of the play is a loss.

I didn't know this, but it makes sense.

If there is no pass attempted, there can be no sack.

Its not exactly that. Its that if the scorer thinks that the play was designed as a run, there's no sack.
