Preferred Pats podcasts?

I used to like Barth and Lezar's Catch-22 more. Find it somewhat monotonous now.

My go-tos are Quick Snap and Patriots Talk Podcast.

Tom Curran’s Patriots Talk: I like him and Phil Perry together.

Andrew Callahans Pats Interference Football: Andrew really dives into the numbers of a game, percentages like how often they were in nickel and dime, how many times the offense ran out a a 12 package, it’s pretty informative. The negative for me is he has Mike Giardi on it he’s just negative to me negative, it’s like pulling teeth for him to say something positive about the PATS.

As the team has gotten better, I find myself devouring more Patriots content than I have for the last several years. I'm not local and don't want to listen to Boston sports radio. So it's more podcasts than ever. I enjoy the Patriots Unfiltered guys as a kind of sports radio hangout show. I really like Evan Lazar's and Alex Barth's Catch 22 podcast as they bring a lot of good Xs and Os talk. Hoyer's and Andrew's Quick Snap podcast is a great new addition to my rotation, too.

I was curious if you all had favorite Pats podcasts?

Yeah, Hoyer is surprisingly really good. He seems like he has a future in media.

My top recommendation would have been Catch 22 but you already mentioned them.

Besides that, I am partial to Pats Chat with Doug Kyed and Michael Hurley. It's very casual and they don't take themselves very seriously. You aren't going to necessarily learn a lot but it's fun and the guys are funny and have good chemistry.

The only other ones I tend to listen to regularly are Bedard's podcast, as well as "Next Pats" which is Phil Perry's solo thing that is more player-evaluation/draft focused.

Also, big thanks for the Pats Chat recommendation. That’s become a must listen.

Sure thing!! I started listening when it was new and just a fun little project of theirs back when they both were laid off. It's been picked up by CLNS since then so it has ad rolls and such, but the spirit is still there.

I like my patriots analysis tinged with humor and some fun nonsense, such as "How has Michael gotten Twitter mad at him this week?" So it is just a really fun mix.

Yeah it's like 30% analysis, 30% going over the latest news, and 40% jokes and nonsense. Those two have perfect chemistry together.

Basically I just want to hit the high points and don't want to be buried in numbers. After we won our first SB getting into the nitty gritty didn't matter very much any more, and after we won 6 it mattered even less.

Also I don't like shows that come across like drive-time sports radio with tons of hype and too many silly sound drops, or made-up click-bait stuff, or ex-jocks waiving their willies. So, yes, I'm hard to please.

My favorite national-level NFL podcast is "Heed the Call Podcast with Dan Hanzus and Marc Sessler". I've been a listener to these guys for over a decade so I'm biased, but I like their stuff a lot. They used to work for NFL.COM but Dan got dumped after after pissing off management and Marc chose to follow him and start their own independent podcast. It's pretty whacky at times since Marc is a free spirit and so is co-host Conor Orr, but I love it that they don't take the sport too serious.

Bedard sucks on radio, he's best on his own podcast where he controls things.

Anything with Phil Perry is great. Breer's obvious self-adoration is insufferable. Tom E has gotten a little loopy, but I still enjoy listening to him. Bedard is just such a goddam sourpuss that I generally give him a pass, despite some pretty good content, and Cattles just makes that pod draaaaag anyway, taking up time, saying nothing ad nauseum. I can't listen to Early Edition anymore now that they have that airheaded supermodel chick decorating the picture but clogging up the proceedings with endless iterations of the obvious. Sometimes I record it, so I can skip over her drivel. I generally like anything with Giardi because he is smart and thorough. Callahan is weirdly uncomfortable or self-conscious or something, but his stuff is good, until he gets a little too deep in the suds and starts to talk in circles. Poor grooming aside, I think Andy is good when doesn't get too deep into his Napoleon complex and jockish posturing. The Six Rings is wildly inconsistent, but I listen to it. The official Pats' site is as engaging as a dentist's waiting room. If they don't give a **** about the show, why should we?

I'm a fan of Bedard's podcast too. He does a bit deeper dive than some of the others and some times I don't agree with his takes but so far none have been so bad as to make me want to walk away. I can also see why other people find him grating.

Of the ones mentioned earlier, the only other Patriots podcast I subscribe to is the Price/Hogan one. There's usually a few good nuggets in it for me. Hogan gives us some of the player's perspective, but without a lot of the typical ex-player ego.

I've been out on Curran for a while. He seems to want to be both a respected insider and a click-bait troll at the same time, and he doesn't pull it off well at all IMO. Good for him, hope he's filling in that retirement portfolio, but he's not my cup of tea.

As above I'm in on the Bedard podcast because for me the content is good enough to offset the sourpuss vibe, but as always these things are up for future review.
