Pats could finish as low as the 10th seed. If NE loses, JAX loses, MIA wins and PIT wins, it would be MIA at #7, PIT at #8, JAX at #9 and NE at #10.

Even if only one of MIA and PIT wins, NE would still be out because JAX seeds higher than NE with both losing. It'd be MIA or PIT at #7, JAX at #8 and NE at #9.

JAX has to win which has them taking their division and out of the wild card placement. At that point. NE is at least #8 unless both MIA and PIT both win, then NE is #9.

Basically you need either of these - NE wins and gets #7 seed no matter what, or, NE loses and at least 2 of the following 3 teams also lose: TEN, MIA, PIT. If that occurs then NE would end up at #8 by finishing 8-9.

Interestingly, if TEN loses, MIA loses, and PIT loses, NE would finish as the #7 seed no matter if they win or lose this weekend and the NYJ would take the #8 seed at 8-9 over MIA and PIT.
The last time I rooted for the Jets was at the end of the 2001 season when the Pats needed them to beat the Raiduhs. I was with my youngest son and about 10K Pats fans in Charlotte doing the Jets chant. It worked and gave us a home playoff game for a sendoff to the old stadium.

That's what sourceless reports are for in the PR world. They get to put information out and see how it plays. And if they don't like the reaction, they can deny the validity of the reports and say that Hamlin's health was always their only concern.
That seems like it could have been in play when Troy Vincent carried the NYFL's water for them and denied that they were looking to continue the game.

It's one extreme to the other. There was talk of Buffalo being too traumatized to play this weekend, or the weekend after that, or until who knows when. Now all of the sudden they're going to destroy their next opponent in 3 days because they're riding an "emotional onslaught!"
I believe that the Bills will have a letdown. The problem may be that the Pats offense is too anemic to take advantage.

....and we all know with absolute certainty that future performance can be tracked by past performance in the NFL. Sorry but I couldn't find the emoji for EXTREME sarcasm. Rolleyes was the best I could do.
Haven't seen one of your 4 page Pats silver lining write ups in weeks.

Wonder why.

Look, in a 2008 situation where the Pats went 11-5 but missed the playoffs we got f.ucked by a once in a generation fluke. No two ways about it. And yes there are divisions that are won by .500 teams that get in the playoffs. But as a .500 team you really can’t complain if things don’t bounce your way standings wise. Sorry.

Most logical solution is Bengals being rewarded the win against the Bills by forfeit. They were up 7-3 and it’s the least invasive way of addressing it without arbitrarily hurting multiples teams, some of which aren’t even involved. Assume Sunday can be played with the Pats @ Bills.
Burrow was told to warm up to go back out and he refused. Both teams agreed not to finish the game.
Won’t be surprised if Roger and his fluffers instead try to leverage this support and national empathy for the Bills and do all they can to put them in position for a storybook playoff ending.
Buffalo is winning the Super Bowl anyway.

The Patriots are not beating the Bills in Buffalo.

The Patriots have run just 34.7% offensive plays in on their opponent’s side of the field since Week 14 — second-worst in NFL. Bills have allowed their opponents to run just 38.3% of plays in their territory since Week 14 — fifth-best in NFL.

The Patriots have run successful plays on just 33.3% of pass attempts since Week 14 — worst in NFL. Bills have allowed successful plays on just 39.4% of pass attempts since Week 14 — fourth-best in NFL.

The Patriots have run successful plays on just 31.4% of pass attempts on their opponent’s side of the field since Week 14 — fourth-worst in NFL

The Patriots have run successful plays on 29% of rush attempts in the red zone this season — worst in NFL; League Avg: 48%.

The Patriots have run successful plays on 34% of plays in the 4th quarter this season — worst in NFL; League Avg: 42%.

The Patriots have run successful plays on 30% of plays in the red zone this season — worst in NFL; League Avg: 43%.
My first thought is the 2010 playoff loss to the Jets. That loss was a crusher. The Pats created the bad karma by mocking the Jets after a beatdown during the season.

Houston @ Indianapolis
Spero Dedes, Jay Feely <---- LOL, lamest game ever, they know where they stand!

I don't recall any 4 team division having the 31st and 32nd ranked teams before, but it's a real possibility in the AFCS.

Who did the Pats mock this season?

This loss is totally expected. Even if the Pats weaseled a way in, who are they beating in the postseason?

The Bills own the Pats now. Take note how the Bills defense plays Corky.

Onsides kick would give the ball to our offense - if it works. i would rather have our defense on the field which might have a better chance of scoring
That would have been much funnier if it wasn't so true.

The only person I see being mocked here is Patricia. It's pretty clear that the Pats problems are exclusively on offense this year, and Patricia is NCOIC or, as Hawkeye Pierce would call him, the Nincompoop in Charge.

Happy Friday!!! Getting everyone ready for today:

Such a GREAT defense

So if somehow the Chiefs win and the Patriots win on Sunday, the Patriots would have to play a second consecutive game in Buffalo (now a playoff game) against a team that they just upset one week ago at the Bills home, following onto the Hamlin tragedy.
So, in this scenario, for Pats to advance to the AFC semifinal game they would have to beat Buffalo twice in consecutive weeks in Buffalo with one of the worst offenses in the league against one of the best defenses in the league

It's just not going to happen. We all can root and hope...but....usually performance during 16 of 17 previous games is a good indicator for the 17th.

If we beat buffalo this week and Cincinnati wins, Cincinnati moves into the 2 seed and thats who wed play in the wild card (according to the playoff machine). So as long as Cincinnati beats baltimore wed avoid your scenario which i agree is extremely unlikely for us to win twice in buffalo.

You can only be as good as your QB.

Brady made millionaires out of Weis, Obrien, McDaniel's. They all landed HC jobs and they all failed.

Does this dour forecast make you feel self-assured? Resignation as a hedge against disappointment, perhaps? At least on these assumptions you won't waste time watching the game and can do something productive, like wash your underwear or shop for dental floss. (That's a long-shot guess as it doesn't appear dental floss is widely used in the U.K.)
It doesn’t work. I used to do that. You’re still disappointed. So, you basically spend days being disappointed in order to prep yourself for disappointment, then, when the disappointment actually happens, you’re even more disappointed.

Let's stay on topic and point guys!!! There's a big game to be played Sunday!!!!!
