Pre-Game Thread- Colts @ Pats

I know people don't take much out of pff but they are the only ones that kind of track and grade that kind of stuff

This is for RB's that have had at least 25+ Pass Blocks



So according to pff he is basically 1 of the best pass blocking RBs when you take into account the volume.

Yeah Rham is really good what a steal marked improvements in his overall game I don't like when comes out. Rham has also become Mac's second read after Meyers.

PFF player grades are garbage IMO, I don’t need them to tell me anything. They tried to play Rhamondre in game one last season, he whiffed pass blocking, got benched (inactive) for Bolden until week five, then re-emerged a better blocker. We all saw it.

He’s good now, his improvement was swift. It’s funny Chubb is on there, he stunk at pass blocking for years. his improvement took some time.

He played really well last week

That's not really saying much IMO. Zappe played really well against the Browns and it has been meant with "THEIR DEFENSE SUCKS". Browns pass defense is better than the Commanders. Especially when you have people pounding the table about how the Browns defense sucks yet Zappe had a better game against them than Lamar Jackson, Justin Hebert and Joe Burrow had in the weeks surrounding that game.

We need to hit Rham on some screens passes and angle routes so he can lay the lumber on some defenders.

He’s a load in the blocking game now. Along with improved knowledge, his size and strength alone is a big advantage.

I was simply commenting about how he wasn’t playing last year early because he needed to improve at pass blocking… and did.

I've pretty much come to the realization that this team needs to look in Rham/Meyers direction at least 2 plays out of every set of down.

By this I mean either a hand off or first read in a pass to one of them at least twice. That third play can be anything can't shut everyone out but for the most part good things happen when Rham/Meyers touch the ball.

Parker is a close third but he's more explosive big play then consistent like those two. I still like Damien Harris too but Rham has passed him. Other than that I see potential in Thornton but everyone else especially TEs need to do more and/or make less mistakes.

I don't know if it needs to always be split exactly like that (sometimes it's better to trade off series to keep a guy in rhythm), but I agree in general. I think the snap counts were just about right against the Jets: Rham played 63%, Harris 41%. I think somewhere between a 60-40 and 65-35 split is good to give Rham the bulk but not wear him out by week 17.

God, I hope we attack the sh!t out of his kid.

Of course its 5 years later. Maybe he's one of those guys that's improved over the years. But he was a rookie UDFA, coming to a team that everyone acknowledges works REALLY hard. So you have to wonder WHY did he sign here.

Sounds to me that back then, it has HE who wasn't ready to play in the NFL. Now he is and should be congratulated for the fact he came into the game as an UDFA and now has a regular role in the NFL. BUT his comment wasn't smart "low point of his life" ? C'mon man He was just pissed that he wasn't good enough to make a team that went to the Superbowl

I agree that in future years the Browns will be competitive, but with 5 losses already and facing at Miami, at Buffalo, Bucs, at Cinci, Ravens four of next five plus finish on the road at Washington and Pittsburgh, are not going to be pushovers.

I figure 5 losses are in there, and that's giving them Texans on the road and Saints at home.

We'll see. but, they're likely 4-8 when Watson comes back (not sure of exact numbers). You think he'll mount that type of comeback? That would be a story.

I think Watson doesn't settle in this year, they fire the coaching staff, and Brian Flores is the new coach.

Added this really doesn't belong here, but the Browns are important to both the Colts and Patriots.

The benching wasn't permanent of course, as he returned to the game later, but I believe it was due to his bad game to that point while also acknowledging that yeah they probably wouldn't have minded seeing what Lose/Lose could do at LG anyway; couldn't have been any worse than his "work" at Right Tackle this year, that's for sure...

Agreed. How much of his performance was due to Andrews being missing, versus just a bad game from Strange is up for debate, but I do think it was performance based. I will add though, that with a rookie, it could less about punishing him, and more about sitting him down with coaches to go over pointers from the practice week and get him reset (hence him coming back into the game later). More like, "Hey, get the kid out, let's coach him up, and then see how he responds going back in." Just speculation on my part, of course.

I suppose that, after every team in the league bypassed you multiple ****ing times, and being in the TC of the 5-time defending Champions, a team which has a reputation of developing UDFA CBs such as fellow college conference alum and now teammate Malcolm Butler, just wasn't Fun enough

Extend Meyers

Based on age and production Meyers is going to be one of the most sought after WR's in FA 2023. It's not a really good FA WR class we have seen much better I think he's going for the pay day IF I'm his agent.
