Milt and Christian are about to introduce themselves to Mr. Stroud
Ersery's played about as well as a rookie LT can play, for them - but man, Jake Andrews and the bloated corpse of Trent Brown...this isn't much better than what the Chargers ran out there with. It was just more striking with the Chargers because they have two pro-bowl level tackles that were out.

The way you break down THEIR rookie OT is the same way you want to break down OUR rookie OT, with stunts and movement. If they just come at him, I think we will see a markedly improved Campbell who will gain more width on his drops and use his chips better. But making rookie OT's think and question what they see WILL break them down... some of the time. Popovich vs Marrone on Sunday. Lets see who does the better job getting their middle of the road OL prepared.

I'll be honest. I'm not worried about Campbell picking up Stunts and Twists. I'm worried about Wilson and Bradbury picking them up.

As long as Will Campbell handles Anderson and Hunter the way that Campbell handled Anderson in college, I'll be satisfied with his performance.

We already saw Kuhr/Vrabel sending creative pressure, stunts, and disguised formations at the Chargers in game 1. I am sure they will do the same to this Texans line.

Yep. Ersery may do OK but the weakness there is in the middle and on the right. I would line up Barmore as an edge over Brown and just abuse the hell out of him. Put Williams and Durden/Tonga in the middle. Send “the big dogs”.

….and if they confused Herbert ( 39 Wonderlic, 6 above Tom Brady’s) into uselessness, think what they’ll do to Stroud!

I have to admit, DB, on my second look thru the film today, I thought Bradbury, Owenu, and Moses looked pretty damned solid for most of the 2nd half. But this isn't college. Anderson is a much different and better player now than he was in college, just as Campbell will be a much different and better player going forward as he is right now.

Andrews mentioned on his pod with Hoyer, that when he looked at his play on the all-22 he had 3 coaching points. First was to widen his drop, so he didn't allow such a direct path to the QB and enhance the rusher's power. 2nd throw a bigger punch to slow down the power, 3rd, attack the rusher after the chip. and not let him regain momentum by waiting for him to come to him. I'm sure THAT's what he heard on Monday in his "come to Jesus' meeting with Marrone, on Monday.

If Maye plays a clean game, I think we win this. We edge the Texans offense even against that monster defense IF we don't give them needless opportunities.

It should not be our base offense.
Yes we can use it, and throw out of it a couple of times but our base offense should be 11 or 12 personnel with the ball in Drake Mayes hands not 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

A Jumbo formation does not mean 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Look at the game against the Chargers the only TD was out of Jumbo, the 42 yard completion to Booty was out of Jumbo.

There were also some chunk plays vs Miami out of Jumbo in the passing game.

I also do not think that we should use Jumbo as our base, but to make it sound like its only 3yards and a cloud of dust is not accurate.
What he said. Ditto.

PLUS: The main point of Jumbo, IN THIS CONTEXT (vs HOU) is to DICTATE the PERSONNEL HOU puts ON THE FIELD. Then to take advantage of particular mis-matches by passing against a bigger slower lineup.

Also 6 linemen does MAYBE give you an extra half to second of protection, so Drake has a little more time to wait on someone who can’t break free against the HOU good CBs in the first 10 yards of their route. HOU was supposedly susceptible to big plays all year long, jumbo gets you access to dial up some of those.

Calling Jumbo 3-yards and a cloud of dust just shows you don’t listen to E Lezar, in any of his shows as he laid this out multiple times this week.

With Collins all but out id live on the edge and send the house at Stroud early and often. NE shouldn’t have many issues blanketing their WRs and Stroud is one of the worst QBs against a zero blitz.

Ken - Could you look specifically at the sacks? I don't remember which one specifically, but I thought it was in the 1st half. But on one it looked like a Stunt that brought the Edge guy from outside of Campbell's left shoulder, across the O-line to the Right Side "A" gap and gave him a straight shot at Maye. I don't have access to the All-22, but the way I remember the play is that, when Bradbury snapped the ball, his guy drove deep on the Left Side "A" gap. Bradbury engaged him, dropped his head, turned his body, and went with the defender back and towards Wilson. In doing so, it prevented Wilson from Mirroring the Edge guy and allowing him that free shot at Maye.

When I first watched the play, I though Wilson was the issue because he looked lost on the play.. But when I saw the replay and how Bradbury had turned, it seemed more like Bradbury was the issue in that he called the wrong protection for him and Wilson. It COULD be a combination of both. But you're one of the guys who knows and understands O-line blocking concepts better than anyone on this board.

As for my comment on Campbell. It doesn't matter to me that Anderson is better now than he was in college in that video. Campbell is better now than he was in that video. So I expect him to handle Anderson and Hunter in the game. And that if he does that, I'll be satisfied. Yeah. it's a high bar. But that doesn't mean I'll hate the kid if he fails. I'm expecting him to succeed is all.

Ok. Thx. Wasn’t tracking he-Hoyer were on a podcast. Maybe will try & listen w all my newfound free time.

Was thinking from sentence structure that Ken could have meant Campbell and had a name-brain-cramp. As usual, it’s just me being confused
