"BB: Teams are reluctant to make draft-choice trades prior to the draft...alludes to a Jimmy Johnson trade years ago...to be sure of position into draft..."

On that note Denver just traded #22 (their second pick in round 1) to SF for picks in the second and third rounds per WEEI.

I wonder what he means by that. I can see it for the Cromarties and Allens but I don't get it as a general comment.

There are many round 2-4 guys that have missed playing time...some a full season. Others who have switched positions...I notice it a ton when reading the profiles on ESPN.

Are we being prepared for many trade downs

What? Oh, I see what you're saying, you misunderstand. I meant it's a MEDICAL NECKLACE often worn by people allergic to certain drugs, as manly men like BB don't wear ornamental jewelry. I'll clarify the original post.

OK. I did misunderstand but maybe you can understand why I misunderstood.

Are you new around here? Your screen name seems familiar, but only 3 posts? If you are, welcome.

Good comments, but I couldn't disagree more. BB does not tip his hand. Period. He will not say ANYTHING which would help other teams figure out who we might take. Actually no GM would do that - but BB is better than most and smarter than most. Anything you think you learned is probably intentional misinformation.

Agreed. I think it was just his take on the level of experience this crop has compared to other years.

Pats history is not taking projects until the 2nd day, with exceptions like Johnson & Hill along the way. Given the new restrictions on the number of years, would any team use a #2 for a project, with only 4yrs to get value back?

I see them going for the guys who did have production over the relative unknowns. A Mankins, Kazcur, Hobbs, Wilson type(s).

BBs comments tell me we are trading up

****! That is the exact trade that I had in mind depending on how the board fell on draft day. Our #21 for their #38 and #71.:enranged:

PromisedLand and tailgater have it right - BB said nothing useful, as expected. BB probably sees this conference as prime opportunity to blow smoke, obfuscate, confuse and generally mislead other GM's. I find it hard to comprehend that anyone could glean what the Pat's draft strategy will be from watching this little charade. Unless, of course, you're the GM of teams like Detroit, SF, Green Bay, Buffalo, Houston, AZ, etc., who all had to learn something because they've all been so bad at building a team lately that even the most generic tidbits from BB have to be very helpful.

BB laid the Lendale White "Castle" trap for some poor team picking ahead of us.......:singing:

Full transcript can be viewed here ... and pats1, you did a hekuva job with the original transcription. (In the interest of full disclosure, I was trying to transcribe the whole thing until the Patriots' PR staff e-mailed me a copy of the transcript...)

Yeah, I had the same feeeling about White. First BB says that a player doesn't have to be ready on Day one of TC, that they draft players to last longer than one day in camp, htat lots of players were not ready to play when drafted but had productive careers. Then he said that injuries had to be looked at and judged by the nature of injuries. Every player has injuries during the season that are treated. It depended on the injury, whether it was career threatening or not.

IMO (not quoting B now) a partially torn hamstring is not likely to be career ending.

More likely that Carpenter's broken leg is not a detrement to beng drafted and maybe Allen's hip.
