It's hard to have an awesome draft class when you're picking at the bottom of every round and the NFL took your first round pick away for no reason at all.
Most people thought the Pats had the worst 2013 draft of the AFCE. The Jets had set their organization up for the future by drafting three premium talents in Dee Milliner, Sheldon Richardson and Geno Smith. The Dolphins got Dion Jordan, and the Bills got EJ Manuel, Robert Woods, and Kiko Alonso. Meanwhile, the Pats just got Jamie Collins, Duron Harmon, and Logan Ryan. An uninspiring trio, all reaches, who were at least cancelled out by getting two kinda promising WRs in Dobson and Boyce.
3 years later, it turns out that pretty much everything we thought about htat draft was wrong. Of all the players listed, Richardson and Collins are by far the two best, and it's pretty clear that the Pats had the best draft class of the division. And even within that, it was the best not because of the guys we were actually excited to get.
That's not to say that taking a guess at who did the best is entirely worthless, just that it's generally misguided to assign much value to that. For example, as it currently stands I'm not really a fan of the Pats' draft. Based on what little I've seen, I don't really like the Jones, Thuney, or Brissett picks. I was a big fan of both the Mitchell and Lucien picks. But having said that, it all has to come with the caveat that I have no real idea where this all ends up. If Jimmy G becomes a trade asset, and having Brissett in the wings means the Pats are willing to trade him after this season, then that pick could end up being worth it. Maybe Thuney turns into a really good player. Maybe Jones becomes a better version of Logan Ryan. I dunno.
I'm also significantly lower on the Bills' draft class and higher on the Jets' draft class than OP is.
