Here's my hot take; call me insensitive, but I think players should be able to keep playing after a concussion if they are able to. They have the option to go back in with any other injury (that could have serious long term consequences), so I don't see why concussions have to be the exception. It affects the game way too much to take players out like that, and it will always be suspicious when there's an 'independent' consultant who makes the call.
There was recent study (last week, widely publicized) that showed hits to the head cause CTE, not concussions. We're still learning about all this. Players know what they are signing up for. Why change the game so drastically by taking a player out? And maybe there's data out there, but are you at more risk immediately following a concussion for extra trauma? If not, then why remove the player immediately, seems like the damage has been done.
