I think Gilmore should have got MVP on behalf of the defense, but Edelman had the stats to back it up and made a lot of key catches to sustain drives

I agree. He had what ? Multiple PBUs, tight coverage, a forced fumble and a key role in denying Cooks that TD right before the turnover. They went with the narrative for Edelman which is absolutely fine with me but Gilmore was just huge.
