Lmao........oh wait....... ok.... you're playing the, "back in my day we never even sniffed the playoffs" card, got it. It most certainly is a huge deal if you actually wanna see this team win the SB though. Which I don't see how anyone outside of the biggest homers can think at this point.
You're a spoiled brat. And you cry like one too. Calm down. It isn't the end of the world.

We can't be sure we're in the playoffs now.
Oh come now... Why so dramatic?

Gilmore and JC Jackson should be acknowledged for their positive play in this ****fest.

Patterson needs to be on the field more often. He has that try hard energy that Edelman usually brings. Play Dorsett for the simple fact that he actually catches the ball and sit Hogan.

For the defense. Make Elandon Roberts an inactive and maybe sit Malcolm Brown as well. I like our secondary for the most part, but outside of that I kind of want to move on from everyone else including Flowers and Hightower next year. I'm at a point where I'm good with Bentley and John Simon as the only holdovers.

I think Belichick has been intentionally prioritizing the offense and secondary in an attempt modernize his team. If that's the case, he's made a poor judgment in failing to realize that the front-7 is still important, especially to execute the nickel defense. Not to mention that he has clearly misjudged players when drafting.

I actually agree with this. The league has been trending towards offense over the past decade. Belichick seems to have neglected the defense a bit, or at least place a lesser emphasis on it.

Ok, defense gave up tons of yards but only 17 points. The offense was outplayed much of the game. Three drops is embarrassing.
Drops, penalties, 3rd down D.

Ballgame.

Well this is definitely not our year. All we can hope for at this time is that we win the 2 at home to end the season and at least win on wild card weekend.
That’s about it.....but I see us losing one of last two.....divisional opponents and anything can happen....and Pats are not good...

All we had to do was defend a ****ing 70 yard lateral and this loss isn't a big deal

Right, not just from a standings point but mentally too. A loss on the road to a potential playoff team, okay. But having it happen AFTER the embarrassment last week is very uncharacteristic from the team and brady. Another total brainfart in the red zone that robbed us of at least 3.

Any pats team of the past would have destroyed pitt after a loss to Miami , pitt are a mess themselves, have a horrible secondary that derek carr just embarrassed, and they tried to hand us this game .

I don't know if this was mentioned or not but did Edelman get injured?

Time to clean house...if your expectations are to be in the final 4, this team is not cut out for it. And looking at this roster, they're an 8 win team next season...

It's almost like Bill has surrendered the idea of stopping the run with any focus and conviction

I don't want to think that. I don't see any reason why Brady can't have a 2018 brees like season next year. Brees had kind of a down year last year and this year he's an MVP candidate. Thing is, we need a more complete team with good line on both o and d. In other words BB needs to step up which he hasn't.
I don't know. Brady is 41. Brady aside, this issue is deeper than him. We need to get tougher and replace aging players.

You can field a LB corps with both size and speed. And yes, I think those changes will be made. The window has closed for this version of the Patriots. They’ll shed a good amount of salary this offseason. They HAVE to hit on their picks in the draft, though. Especially the early ones.

You are setting yourself up for a big disappointment. Given what we know about BBs philosophy I would be shocked if he drafts a lighter, speedier LB (early) unless the plan is to make him a LB/S hybrid. Given how the LBs are used in our defense there is just not as much value in a light LB as there would be in a safety.

Defense held the Steelers to 17. Patriots scored 10 and had a redzone INT and a redzone 4th and out both of which would have given them the lead. The one offensive TD was on a broken play.

Food for thought when people want to **** on the defense.

Retire while you're ahead. Team needs two QBs

Let me qualify my post. If Brady retires then we need a starting QB and a Backup QB. I don't want Hoyer to play QB in any role with the Pats anymore MO.

Hightower got paid and plays like a nobody.

Our D-linemen after Branch left have been total garbage.

Sure we only gave up 17 points, but my god, that was painful to watch.

I'm not sure how these issues are to be rectified. Obviously there's not much that can be done this season; just have to win out, and to peak at the right time.

Going forward, it's hard to imagine things getting better anytime soon. Brady is getting older and seems to be showing his age in some regards. There isn't much salary relief in sight, and there aren't an abundance of draft picks to restock the team.

It's unfortunate that the team is in this situation at this point in time, with Brady's career coming to an end within the next 2-3, maybe 4 seasons. Ultimately Belichick has himself to blame for that, but I suspect he never intended to construct a great team right now for Brady specifically. His formula will not change, and in part that's due to him wanting to have the ability to compete following Brady's retirement.

One bad offseason and he should be fired? He’s had a few other duds (2009 stands out). It happens. Frustrating that it probably killed any chance of Brady getting another ring, but one horrendous offseason isn’t enough to fire Belichick
Their best drafts came during the years Pioli/Dimitroff and Floyd Reese were there. They’ve been terrible since.

Neglected the defense “a bit”?! He honestly has neglected the defense ALOT in his time here....he just always had an offense that could kick ***....now this year defense has been awful (although hung in there today)....and the offense and OC have been horrible..
