Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Chiefs

Random thought. I don't want to look too far ahead but something came to mind. I don't see how the Pats beat KC again. In the 2nd half KC figured something out offensively.

The Pats simply don't have a solution for those deep crosses with Hill or when Hunt vertical with a LB. The Pats I think can solve Kelce but unless they can stop the other two they will have a lot of trouble. I don't know if they have a good solution for it.

On offense I think the Patriots can repeat this performance but if they don't figure out things on defense that next game will come down to who has the ball last. I don't think any fan feels comfortable with that.

If you can tell me who's healthier in January, who has home field, and whether proper use of timeouts and game management will be a factor in the outcome, then I'll be able to make a prediction for a potential rematch.

For as many systemic advantages the Chiefs O seems to have over the Pats D, the Pats O have as many over the Chiefs D. Their LBs can't do much against the backs and Gronk, for example.

The defense did a phenomenal job in the first half. The second half? Awful.

Just not sure how anyone can describe it differently. In the first half the D did good. They kept a very potent O out of the endzone. In the second half the D just did not get it done on most possessions.

The Patriots won the game. Getting the W by any means, whether winning 3-0 or 100-99, is singularly important. Way down the line from that is the rightful criticism of the second half D. The best take -- call it optimism(?) -- is that giving up those absurdly big plays and handing the D several crappy field position starting points is to a sizable extent fixable.

Obviously he was huge for us in some very high-leverage situations and is a helluva player, but does anyone else think Gronk has lost a step in the open field? Just doesn’t seem as fast to me.

He may have but for right now I’m treating it as the ankle is still bothering him.

Andy Reid's TO's were again a thing of beauty. They led directly to the Chiefs not being able to stop the Pat's on their last drive !! Love it
Sorry, but I don't think he did anything wrong there tonight. Called his two timeouts trying to stop the Pats to hold them to a field goal (instead of putting the game away with a TD) and left one for his offense to come back with. There was no way he, or anyone, expected to tie the game on the first play from scrimmage.

It’s always hilarious how Pats on national broadcasts feel like watching the opponent’s local broadcast. The entire angle for Cris and Al tonight was “how can the Chiefs win?”.

Keep an eye in that. Lombardi is aware as others that Cannon has an extensive concussion history.

Happened on that fumble play by Brady. Unfortunate coincidence.

They're not going to face a better offense than the Chiefs though

The biggest thing to takeaway from this game is that the Patriots offense is back to being both dynamic and elite which is all you need to compete for a SB now.

That's not very pessimistic, Pete. But I agree. BTW, Dallas dropped a 40-burger on the Jags D today.

Why did the Chiefs kick the XP in the 3rd qtr instead of going for 2? The XP brought them to 1 point behind the pats. The 2 PT conversion would have tied the game? If they did not convert the 2 point conversion they would just be down by 2 points instead of one point.
