Tom was asleep in the locker room not long before it was time to go out. That team had to face big game after big game, clutch situations, tough opponents along with adversity and challenges the whole year. So the Super Bowl was simply the last in a long line. Brady was ready along with the team. It was just time to go out and execute again. But what stuck out the most for me in XXXVI was how nonchalant TB12 was as he slowly walked up to the line, took the snap from center and spiked the ball before Vinatieri's kick. I said at the time to my wife, "Brady's so calm...it's like he's spiking the ball in a preseason game in August."
Indeed, and like their sole playoff victory in the 60's & AFL, it was followed by an epic blowout defeat in their second championship game ever which was practically inevitable the moment they exited the winning locker room. Mainly due to their respective opponents, the Chargers and the Bears.Couple of pages into this thread and no one has mentioned the 1985 AFC Championship game?
Miami was a torture chamber for the Patriots, and to see them absolutely destroy Marino and the Phins in the AFCCG?
That was one of the greatest nights in Patriots history.

I think the best approach is to pick the twelve best plays/moments in each decade, and there are easily a dozen super awesome ones in each decade.
Gino was definitely involved in at least a few of them in the 60's.
In the 70's, the Windsor catch in Minny preceded by the Vataha bomb, the Stingley TD in Pittsburgh, the Hunt pick six in Tampa followed by the Zabel successful extra point, the divisional playoff in Oakland but for Dreith.
In the 80's, the Snow Plow game, the flea flicker to Hawthorne against the Fins, Tatupu's hit on Seale in LA causing the fumble leading to Bowman's winning TD recovery, Fryar's walkoff TD in Anaheim, Grogan's Orange Bowl sendoff, Flutie's winner in relief over the Colts.
The 90's had a lot of Drew and C-Mart and their fair share of excitement.
You'd think one single moment would involve a Super Bowl title day, but those are typically the culmination of tremendous moments it took to get there. Fred Coleman's first career NFL reception which got the team going at the Jets in '01 is right up there.

Belichick sticking with Brady through the several tough stretches up to that point was crucial to their ultimate success, just as Berry's failure to do so in '88 with Flutie was fatal.
Does Flutie take out Tennessee in 1999? I think they win comfortably and end up in Indy.Belichick sticking with Brady through the several tough stretches up to that point was crucial to their ultimate success, just as Berry's failure to do so in '88 with Flutie was fatal.
Yup!Damn!
You have one helluva memory!
I simply think it's the greatest play in Super Bowl history.I’m not the biggest Malcolm Butler fan, but his interception has to be the greatest “ moment” in Patriots history. That interception both kept them from losing the Super Bowl, and won them the Super Bowl in the same play. I don’t know how you top that?
Probably.Does Flutie take out Tennessee in 1999? I think they win comfortably and end up in Indy.
