Please Be Quiet

Spiritually speaking, it may indeed be the path to great enlightenment to cease all meaningless discourse, within the mind and outside of it.

Spiritually speaking, however, you may notice a complete dearth of posts composed during deep meditative trances.

I've called for all sorts of halts to this and halts to that, basically out of frustration over this or that thing I don't very much like. Screw it. I wish there were fewer threads sometimes, because good ones die for no reason. But you can't just tell everybody to shut up as a blanket statement, even just from the point of view of pure pragmatism.

Some of the newbies are bringing in silly threads with them (sometimes noting the silliness, by the way, like in that power rankings thread). But the board thrives on heated "noise," and sometimes gets to some pretty interesting points because of it.

Embrace the horror, rook.

Good post PatsFanInVa. You gotta take the good with the bad. When youre in the public eye you cant just say "shut up" and "lets move on". When stuff happens you gotta run with the punches. Who are you to say "lets not have critical discussion"? All great dynasties have critics...deal with it!

Yeah djm, but I recently tried to get people to "move on" from the other (ultra homer) side of one of these debates myself. So maybe it's just a poor choice of phrasing to tell people you don't want to hear their crap, even when it's true...

I have nothing against Pats1Yes as I'm big on allowing everyone to express opinions and thoughts.

But I get this feeling that he being a long-time ticket holder, I think he's one of those folks who sits in his seat and claps politely during a Pats TD.

Slagathor, you read my mind!

Anyone else note the delicious irony of "a 30 year+ season ticket holder" telling everyone to "Please Be Quiet"?

Guess we now know why Gillette has that reputation as the "library" of the NFL.

I think the piling on period that we went through during the "scandal" has made lots of folks sensitive to anymore bad news or criticism.

I can understand that as I got pretty overwhelmed myself.

But with football being a once a week spectacle, it's hard to find filler chat that's all positive, especially since so much media bias has been exposed recently as well as resentment due to the teams success.

Who says it all has to be positive? Accurate is fine as well, just not stupid.

The world has gone quite mad. And this site is joining the list. It seems that some of you are going out on the internet looking for anything negative you can find about the Pats, and then posting it. You can find anything if you are looking for it.

Stop already. Please be quiet.

It is called over-reacting. We have a team that is the best we have ever had. We are better than just about everyone, and perhaps everyone. There are "kids" making posts that are simply off the wall.

Stop already. When you are REALLY good, the fools of the world have envy. Being children of the mind -- ala, no brain, they can post what they like. Can we all just be a little more mature here please.

Refrain from nonsense. I do not want to hear about some "wacko" suing the Pats. I do not want to hear about some idiotic post about power rankings that are just off the wall, I do not care about Losman (looking for excuses as to why he is a bum), and Jet fans trying to demean our team when they cheered when Pennington went down.

ENOUGH already. I will be civilized (something we have lost in this world) and just say, BE QUIET.

You know what would make these fools be happy? If we suddenly would be bums. Then they would be off making more stupid comments about someone else.

Can we all just move on here folks.

NO MORE negative posts. NO MORE nonsense.

Can we all just be QUIET for a while please.

We have a great team. We do not need to make one single excuse to anyone. Especially some fool.

Please be quiet.

You've got to be kidding me. Have you paid any attention to this team in recent years?

They play BEST when its Them against the World - they dominate when the rest of the football world disrespects them.

Do you really think spygate has been a distraction to this team? Didn't you happen to notice that it's pulled this team together and given them enough drive to possibly crave the perfect season to "show" the entire world what they're made of?

If I were another team's fan I'd be making posts just like yours, desparately hoping that the flames of disrespect started by spygate would die down.

Personally I hope it continues - at least until the Patriots win 19 consecutive games.

"Please be quiet?" Do you WANT this team to lose? Get a clue and fan some flames.

That's a New England thing unfortunately. Our Puritanical roots. Don't react to anything with too much emotion......as it's a flaw or sign of weakness. What will people think?

IMHO too may folks at Gillette spend too much time in the beer line, and then spend equally too much time holding their beer and trying to look cool.

The best time I had was actually at the last pathetic pre-season game against the Giants. It was late in the 3rd quarter and the fans started a huge loud wave!

Now as tacky as the wave is in 2007, I thought to myself, the REAL fans are here....truly enjoying the football experience. It was fun. The Buffalo game was very subdued I thought.

Actually, there may be more to this Pats1yes than meets the eye, Nut.

Here's what he wrote to you, 10 days after joining the board this month:
_____________
"You are not a Pats fan. I read your post and said to myself, who are you??? Not a Pats fan. I don't know who you are, but shame on you.

I, as a true and loyal Pats fan would not like it if the allegations stand. I would say, OK, now stop. But, I do not know what has happened or the facts. When I find out, I will make my own decision.

Who are you??? Not a Pats fan. Colts, SD, Jets, but not a Pats fan. Shame on you for coming on this board and being a pretender. Now go away.
_____________

So what we have here is a fella who 1) wants to censor the posters 2) is evidently feeling it's OK for him to label Patsnutme a heretic to the Patriot flag merely for having a different opinion and 3) is doing all this while doing EXACTLY what he rails against (i.e. complaining to us about some Mod on a Jet fanboard).

Anyone else smell a rat?

****, I've been busted! OK, I'm really a Colts fan. My three year infiltration of the Patriots fan site has been exposed . I'm really

COLTSNUTme

I love this thread.

No one is perfect. Even our beloved Patriots.

Lets kick some butt on Monday night and increase the hate

I KNEW IT!!!!!

will you all just STOP ADDING TO THIS THREAD?

What is the MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE? :enranged:

Do you think that its the fan base thats changed. Or that the old stadium was more condusive in getting everyone reved up?

Ahhh. Censorship.

Would you then be the judge of what is and isn't nonsense?

We have a policy here. Simply put:

This board is for any news and opinion about The New England Patriots Football Team.

What gets censored is unsolicited personal flaming, foul language, sexual content, trolling
That'll be the friggin' day! If that is your policy, you are failing miserably.

But the poster's complaint wasn't about taste and politeness as you are trying to twist it. It was about people coming here and posting only negative stuff.

I notice in your list of the site's "rules" you left off any mention of the rule for fans of teams other that the Patriots. Would you mind posting that for me?

Thanks

EDIT:: And what is with the Ahhh censorship crap? You are a moderator and you don't know the difference between moderating and censoring? Are we back to the NEM question again?

I agree to everything being said.......lol

A negative post about negative posts.

That reminds me of when I was working customer service for AT&T wireless, this big a-hole (God I hate the language filter) calls me up all pissed off because his phone keeps dropping calls, but the idiot called me up ON his phone and the call dropped before I could help him.
