Here are a couple of adjustments that were critical:
Defense - Warren is pulled and Deaderick comes in for some plays. The Dolphins running game stalls.
Offense - With Wake causing problems, the Patriots begin using Neal and Vollmer as battering rams, pounding the smaller Miami defenders on the right side. This took a lot of starch out of Wake, opened up tremendous running lanes, settled down the passing game and set the stage for the team imposing its will on the Dolphins.
The pulverising block by Sammy Morris to spring Brandon Tate for the 103 yard td return was probably the biggest. That momentum changing play ended at the 30 yard line without it.
There were a number of runs where our DL just ate up the RB before he even got back to the LOS. #75 was the main space eater, but some others got in on the action at times too. Ricky had a couple good runs outside, but for the most part the "three nose tackle" defense did a decent job on their running game, forcing them to throw. Henne was bound to make mistakes.

Guess you somehow missed Connolly's participation in those plays They've been pulling Connoly all year to get him, Neal, Vollmer, Crumpler and Gronkowski on the same side. That's made all the difference in our running game this year. Going into tonight, the Pats were rated #2 in the league in rushing efficiency per play by Football Outsiders...

It's not a matter of missing anything, although I didn't focus on Connolly because I was watching the TEs and the right side of the line tonight. However, Connolly was not pulling over there on every run play to the right side.

Pulling your chain a little bit but they've been pulling Connolly *a lot* which means to that side. I agree that the biggest change in the running game effectiveness is Vollmer fully supplanting Kaczur and Crumpler and Gronkowski blocking next to him and Neal. They almost always are strong right with that TE wing. It's a night and day difference between Kaczur + Watson et al.
